But how did the police get his name in the first place?

This is just based on some other reports, so take it for what it is.

The news is saying that he used specific batteries imported from overseas for these bombs. If true, then I suppose it wouldn't be hard to track down imports and deliveries made to specific locations. Earlier I posted a quote stating that they had been watching him for sometime. I'm guessing that perhaps from the 1st or 2nd explosion, they ID'd the make and model of the battery, then tracked purchases of these batteries at which point came up with a few possible suspects, tracked their movements via cell towers once they identified them and with the witnesses accounts, video evidence and such were onto him as the prime suspect.

Just got home from work.. how did I get my percentages? It's called the demographic layout of the U.S. random person who we don't know is 73% chance to be white ;-) basic demographics, but if you want to get even more specific serial bombers and serial killers are typically white, single, men. There are exceptions to that rule but it is pretty common. That's nothing against white folks in general, I am one myself, just like your typical single homicide offender is black and male... even though they're only 6.4% (black males) of the population they are 52% of the murderers in the US. That's just the crime demographics and how they pan out. I'll leave it up to you all to figure out the reasons for that.

So this guy was a jerk and a bomber.. homeschooled is definitely interesting. Anyone look up his voter registration? Was he registered?
