Anyone look up his voter registration? Was he registered?
Yes, he was registered but there is not a party affiliation in Texas voter registration record.

Doesn't matter. As an R, I can vote in the D primary if I want to, and still vote R in the general. There used to be a way to get the doles of primary voters and see who voted in what primary.

I believe I recall reading that they got him via surveillance footage at the FedEx store. From the date/time stamp, they could then get the credit card information for that transaction.
I believe the FedEx video yielded quite a lot of information for LE. There were multiple cameras and gave a timestamp while he was there. It's possible there was even a camera pointed towards the parking lot. In any event, LE was able to get the vehicle's registration, which gave them a name, which gave them a possible address, and then searches can give them a cell phone number associated with that person. But how did the police get his name in the first place?
But how did they know who's cell phone records to look at?
Did he really use a card?

Continued legwork gave them the fact that the subject was at a hotel and where--partly because the phone got turned on and was located in that manner. There's a lot that's not explained out loud in these cases and for good reason. Why give folks the "play book", namean?
