    That's a dumb rule... I don't know much about sportsball, but I've always wondered why they don't keep one midget on the team for those times when they are within 5 yards of the inzone. Just give the ball to him and have one of the big dudes pitch him over the defending team's heads.

    There’s a rule against it.
    Not midgets per se, but on advancing a runner.

    An offensive player can block for a runner, and pushing a scrum pile forward is generally allowed under the pretense of blocking.

    But it’s not legal for an offensive player to directly assist a runner to advance the ball.

    Exception: I'm an idiot. I looked over the rules and not only is it a lot more complicated than I remember, some of the rules have changed. What I said was so out of date it was just wrong.
