Clearly I'm going against the grain in this thread but a bucket of rocks (no matter how many and where dispersed) in the classroom is better than training kids to turn their backs and hide under a chair during an attack situation.
I must admit that I agree with this as it is stated. But I think what many of us are saying or implying, even in jest, is that there must be better solutions than a bucket of rocks.

Do I have a fool proof solution to this insanity? No where close, but I can't fault the Super. for thinking outside the box.

I honestly feel for you who have school age kids, glad mine are grown.

Glad mine are grown as well.
By no fault of ours, the world has gone stupid.
Equally glad I have no grandchildren. Yet.
Should that occur, I'll probably be on the news.

I do think it’s more effective to teach people to throw objects at an attacker and evade them rather than huddling under desks that won’t stop a bullet.

Ideally the school would have staff/security armed with guns.

However, I’ve taught my sons that if they are attacked to throw objects at the attacker and to run. I’ve coached my boys in baseball and they can throw 60 mph + so a hard object that connects with the skull will cause significant damage.

A .45 in the hands of a trained professional is still a better option than a bucket of rocks though.

In a school there are any number of objects that can be thrown, and in how many school shootings have shooters been stopped by them? It's not that I'm saying not to defend yourself with whatever you can find, I just don't want to hear that this is a solution over arming teachers and staff. Besides that, are they really going to teach children how to throw rocks?

Of course not. I don’t disagree that teachers should be allowed to be armed.

I think every school should have armed security, with guns, not rocks.

    I don’t understand your question.

I don’t agree with the idiots using rocks instead of guns. I’m not disagreeing with anyone on the thread.

Just pointing out that fighting back with anything is better than nothing.
    That's a rotten board you're nailing up.
