After taking my vehicle to the dealership for new tYres and having great personal service, the following day I got some sort of follow-up 'phone message from the same dealership, from someone I did not know, which started :

    "Hey John buddy!"

Please don't do that if you're in any sort of customer communication job.

First, I'm a moderately respectable (unless you ask Charlie) 65 year old.
Second, no-one except the IRS calls me John.

That's how my daughter is when someone calls her Mandy (Amanda), except she says "Nobody calls me Mandy other than my dad".

My dealership makes those “follow up” calls too. Even more frustrating is the doctor’s practice has started to send out “surveys” asking how satisfied I was after a routine visit. I’m all for good customer service but this stuff is really getting out of hand. They’re easy enough to ignore, but I’m left wondering in what universe does any customer think about their dealership: “oh!... I’m so glad they called me and checked on me to see if I was happy”?

My point is, that whilst I don't mind having some sort of "relationship" with my vehicle dealer/maintenance provider, I want it to be on a more formal basis than "Hey John buddy"!

He must have been going to buy you a beer..."buddy".

Dealerships are always that way and it's part of their marketing. Anyone wanting in your wallet acts like your best buddy.

The funniest item I get from a dealer is from a Honda dealer every month stating how much they'll give me for our 2013 Accord. Yes, every month since I bought that car they send snail mail with a low-ball number highlighted in yellow. The car belongs to one of my children now but it just makes me dislike the dealership even more since it just shows their brand doesn't retain any value or they only give wholesale on trade. I don't think they realize it negatively impacts their relationship.

"Mister" would be nice from young 'uns.

I am also tired of waiters/waitresses acting like your running buddies. And the "Are we enjoying the incredibly wonderful food tonight?" And "What are we going to order tonight?" I finally told a waitress, "I am ordering the rib eye. What are you ordering, or did you plan to share mine?" She looked stunned.

That's a good pick up line. No?

I hate it when waitresses or waiters start talking the "we" shit! As if they are part of the group or "we" are old friends! Just be civil and friendly and take my order, please. :green:

Y’all know that’s a very good sales tactic. Unless your dealing with some old cranky bastards.
