If they can't get universal background checks through the public's consent. They'll ram it through using liberal courts.

"Three things to.....properly do". The forth is go along with the gun control or you'll get a government gun in your face. Screw whatever right you think you may have. Bill Clinton form 4473 to each and all. Don't like it? Stop thinking the constitution means something.

    Rachel can go to hell.

I went to look at a car advertised in the paper, turns out there were 2 cars. Guy selling them was a retired LEO, he and wife just moved to Dallas and he needed to unload at least one of the cars to get something better suited for Dallas traffic.

    He had 2, 280 Z's.

Today was the first day of the ad, he was hungry to sell and I said flippantly make me a deal on both as I cannot figure out which one I like the best. He said he needed the money and could I do a cash deal today, I said sure, I got the pair for $13k, he was asking $9 k each, which was already below market by about $2k. He went to my bank, He walked out with $13k and I called a buddy to drive the other Z.

Things were fine and about 6-8 mo later I sold one of them picking up a grand on the sale.

Year later I sold the other one for $500 more than I paid for it.

Couple of years go by and there is a knock on the door one afternoon:

Hello, I am Agent Joe Doaks FBI, did you ever own a Blue 280Z?

    Yes, sold it

Did you ever own a Silver 280Z

    Yes sold it

We need to talk, can I come in.

Turns out both cars were stolen from Hertz Rental car in Phoenix, AZ less than 5 days before I bought it. The day I bought them, all the paperwork was turned over to the bank for processing, I got plates in the mail a couple of weeks later.

The week of the FBI I get a call from the Dentist who bought my second Z and we conducted business at his bank, there were no issue and he drove it over a year until he moved to Mass. There he went to get Mass plates and they confiscated the "stolen car", the dentist said he wanted his money back or he would sue, I told him to sue. His lawyer called I gave him the story and the FBI agents name and number. I never heard from them again.

FBI called again to update me and ask if I would appear in court? Sure! Turns out over in some small town outside of DFW the Retired LEO and friends had leased some land and inside of the high fences they had erected was high end, fast moving cars they were stealing from rent a cars outside of Texas and selling them in the DFW/Houston area.

Later I called the FBI guy and asked about the court appearance as I had seen the news in the paper and on TV. He said they had him so cold no need to bring me to court.

In order to solve this problem, just like with guns then I would need direct access to TXDOT and AZDOT, plus all the other state and local, state and Federal records to insure the guy selling the car was not a wanted or a felon.

To sell a gun what the libs want is for a private citizen to conduct business as if they were an FFL.

    So this goes down:

    ding dong

Hello, I am here to look at that AR 15 you have for sale.

Great here it is can I get you a cup of coffee.

Ok, like your AR, I will take it, got cash.

OK, can I get your DL and I need to do a NICS check.

WHOA there, you are a convicted felon and you know there is a warrant out on you for armed robbery in Illinois?

YEA I DO, now sit down and shut up, give me the cash I gave you and your wallet, call for that wife of yours to come from the pool I liked what I saw.

All lthe Libs want to do is BLAME the GUN and or BLAME the folks that are legi, law abiding citizens that own guns.

Anyone note there no effort to blame the guy that was the wife beater, not his fault, its the law abiding citizen who is at fault!!!! This negates and removes my RIGHT to "keep and bear", but if you are not a law abiding citizen the the guns are your oyster, do as you please.

    @Ole Cowboy

    My gosh...lol. I don't have the words.

As for private sales...same issue in Oregon. The state enacted sb941 some time ago. Most gun owners had a similar opinion to yours. Let us have access to the same system dealers use with the state police. Oregon is a p.o.c point of contact so while they do communicate with and use nics, it's a much nicer system than nics as it can be a very speedy process. Like once the enter key is hit I'm approved. I'm sure they were like "this guy again...go away. Approved". Lol no I held security clearances and osp likes that stuff.

Anyway, relocation to Texas will force me to think about my actions. I understand and support third party sales with no bg check but in this day and age I sure as hell want to see a chl and sign a bill of sale. Still...I have never been shy about judging a book by it's cover. If someone seems to not be that interested or knowledgeable in the firearm or in a hurry or you know what I mean...something is off or they look like a hoodlum. Deals off in my book.

In oregon sb941 made it harder to negotiate price as transfer fees got a bit high but I just did it so I knew the gun would be out of or in my name. The down side is gun owners are in a database. I know what the laws say...I just don't believe it. This country is submerged in data collecting and ignoring rules. Being a gun owner is just hard in this day and age. It's sad.

    “Peace of Mind Transfer”

I'm sure they do those for free since there was no mention of a charge for the service.........

Gun show loophole is the name currently given to private sales........

People are sheep and Judges continue to feed them.....

Step 1 – Ask the buyer for a concealed carry permit if possible. Statistically, a CCP holder is much less-likely to be involved in a crime than not.

Step 2 – Require a Bill of Sale. Whether you’re the buyer or seller, a Bill of Sale will show that the firearmwas transferred to another owner and that both parties agree that there are no nefarious intentions involved in the transaction. More on that in a moment.

Step 3 – Peace of Mind Transfer. You can conduct a private sale while involving an FFL without it ever being signed onto the books of the FFL. At our shop, we call this a “Peace of Mind Transfer” to reassure the buyer that the gun isn’t stolen and to let the seller know that they aren’t selling the gun to a felon.

They must be fucking stupid to recommend this. Paper Trail is what caused this whole mess. If seller had been anonymous, this could not be traced back to armslist, or the seller. Seller is lucky he is not also being sued or charged.

Add this to the Case File full of examples of why you do not want a paper trail.

If you want to buy my firearm you will show me your a Texas resident. I will also ask if there is any kind of legal reason they shouldn’t have a firearm. I’m not dense enough to think that someone will own up to being barred from their 2A rights but it makes me feel better.

I will also ALWAYS make a pair of seller/buyer receipts including Name, serial number and price.

Like OC, I was burned by a car deal that I thought had gone down with no problems until I was dragged through my truck window at gun point due to someone not registering the car in their name and robbing and shooting a convienance store clerk. Fun Times I could have lived without!

Wow, that's a crazy story! Had the guy forged the titles?
