The United States is far from the land of the free these days. The governments in state capitols and Washington DC have confiscated our rights and are selling them back to us. American culture has shifted in a frightening way that has expanded the number of professions and industries that now require an occupational license to legally provide a service or start a business. This stifles business creation in many states and disproportionally affects low and middle income individuals the most.

This is why I call a tax stamp fee, itar and excise fees for manufacturers, local business fees, and my list is really big actually; why I call them extortion fees.

Don't get me started on 922r and the money reason why it became law.

I put this list together some time last year. In true .gov fashion, TDLR (and other licensing bodies) make it combersome to confirm fees/term of license so the accuracy may not be 100% but it's dern close.

Add $475 annual CEU requirements to my individual asbestos consultant license and that's $1605 for a 2 year license. Compare that to a full previlages doctor, architect, or engineer; it doesn't make sense to me.

Licensing is a very disturbing taxation trend across the country.

Fees are fine to a degree. You know the problem that we all know will never go away is people just get greedy and can't resist putting their hands in your wallet.

Are whole tax structure should make this country wake up. For home owners, property tax was around to keep our schools, police, fire dep and roads going. I can't stress enough how much I support auditing anything and everyone associated with government.

Fine is really a penalty for wrong doing, what the Fee's are, is a hidden tax. By calling it a Fee instead of a Tax all this is passed on to the consumer. No one is going to pay that Fee out of their pocket, but rather its incorporated into the charges for goods and services.

I'm fine with a one time fee for starting a business. Or say I need a copy of something because I goofed. I'm fine with a fee. Mistakes cost people time and money.

Where I draw the line obviously is a fee for every little thing someone can think of. I have felt a long time that if anything should unite this country it's our taxation and fee problems. That was my biggest gripe about Obama care and the poor families it was trying to help. Hm...lets see...lets fine a family that we already know is poor. Food on the table and the electric bill is more important than obungholes fees. Yet the same liberal poor families that struggled with it think the guy was made of gold. I should stop...I'm getting myself going.

What gets me even more is our taxes are going to house and feed refugees and illegals, yet we can't house and feed all our own Americans.

Occupational licensing is also an artificial barrier to entry. It benefits more established (i.e. politically entrenched) companies by preventing smaller competition from popping up.

A tax to work. A tax to goto work.
Tax the money you make, and tax the money you spend.
Tax the roof over your head, and the savings in the bank.
Can't even go fishing without the king's permission,
And at the end they'll tax you when you're dead.
No way! I'm taking it with me!

The problem Sam is who pays taxes, 81% of the people make less than $100k, but pay less than 20% of ALL taxes. THe problem: They have no pain, no week long burning the midnight oil to do your taxes. Takes me nearly a week to do mine and that is working on them every day. Until they feel pain we will never come together on this. This WHY I advocate that ALL taxes the govt collects come from We the People ONLY... Right now we only direct pay in We the People taxes about 48% of the tax burden, but indirectly we pay almost 100% of all the taxes

A CLOSER LOOK AT WHO DOES (AND DOESN’T) PAY U.S. INCOME TAX
U.S. income tax is progressive, but enough to be ‘fair’?
    FT_17.10.04_taxes_stats.png

Individual income taxes are the federal government’s single biggest revenue source. In fiscal year 2017, which ended Sept. 30, the individual income tax was expected to bring in nearly $1.66 trillion, or about 48% of all federal revenues, according to the Office of Management and Budget. The corporate income tax was estimated to raise another $324 billion, or 9% of total federal revenue.

The rest of the federal government’s revenue comes from a mix of sources, including Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes, excise taxes such as those on alcohol and gasoline, unemployment-insurance taxes, customs duties and estate taxes. Spending that’s not covered by taxes is paid for by borrowing.
