You just can't get the same amount of sexy traction on the news cycle with a pump-action Remington shotgun and a revolver instead of the evil AT and AK

...was there anything on it today?

The only thing I read that was new, is the shooter made it a point to kill a girl he had been ‘hitting on’ for the last four months (according to her mother). The girl had been telling him, “no” all along and he apparently wouldn’t leave her alone so she finally decided to stand up to him in class, and she embarrassed him in front of the class. So three days later, he made sure to kill her. She was his first kill, again, according to the girl’s mother (not sure how she came to know this unless one of the eye witness survivors told her).

And the shooter’s family expressed their regrets and shock & dismay their son could do such a thing. “That’s not the kind, loving boy we know.... yada, yada, yada...” Smart kid, not a hateful bone in his body, etc. etc....

He probably did keep it hidden from his parents and others

One thing parents can do to help against gun control is stop with the bs dialog. Here's the thing...and I have thought about this. Might be morbid but I have thought about it. None of us know in this day and age if our own kids could be one of the few to be someday killed. Be it by a shooting, auto accident, hiking, just life in general. I even think about my own mortality and understand any day by any means. We just don't know. I do know that if my son ever had red flags to be a school shooter that's on me. I'm the father. This kids dad needs to be saying "this is my fault. I wasn't doing my job as a father". And you own up. Take the thunder right out of gun control.

If my son ever gets killed in a school shooting...yes, it will be the most painful part of my life. Yet, for those of us that are sane, we don't punish others for our losses.

I'm just sick of these dads all: he was a good boy! No...no he wasn't.

I disagree, if a sexy gun had been used, they would have been talking about it and they have lines all day today

The media wants to keep the Parkland shooting in the spotlight. I've noticed that nearly every article about the Santa Fe shooting mentions the Parkland shooting. As in " In the wake of the Parkland shooting" etc.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels

In the paper it was talking about how he was bullied. But the most shocking thing I read was he was in the school shooting for 30 minutes before being engaged by police.

Now I know that part of the delayed reaction was due to the cheap Walmart pipe bombs, but 30 fucking minutes?

This should be prime evidence why we should arm the staff.

Texas shooting suspect won’t face death penalty, could be paroled
    Nick Penzenstadler, USA TODAYPublished 10:18 p.m. ET May 19, 2018 | Updated 10:20 p.m. ET May 19, 2018

But the 2005 high court ruling that bans execution of criminals younger than 18 and a 2012 ruling about juveniles facing life in prison mean that Pagourtzis could be up for parole after 40 years.

“The courts ruled based on the idea that those 17 and younger don’t have the cognitive development to appreciate right from wrong,” said Michael Radelet, a University of Colorado at Boulder sociology professor who has testified in more than 75 death-penalty cases. “Cases like this that are especially violent and an enigma make some people think they are more deserving of death, but the ruling is about the development of the juvenile brain.”

IOW, the parents (and schools, which have usurped parental responsibility at every opportunity) failed in that development, and the left wants to have its cake and eat it too ... by organizing "juvenile brains", like David Hogg in anti-gun protests.

Here is another piece of this: I’m seeing an article on The Daily Wire say that the first person he shot was a girl who he had been hitting on for months, and who had repeatedly turned him down. Girl’s mother said that girl had finally got sick of the unwanted advances and finally embarrassed him in class over it the week before the shooting.

Just because he is up for parole doesn't mean he will ever be paroled

Yes, I knew that, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I would vote for the needle.
And who knows what a snowflake parole board might do 40 years from now?
The only consolation for me is that since he won't be on death row is that he, hopefully, will be in the general population, which might not be healthy for him.

Sadly with many parents today it would not take much hiding. Both parents pursuing their career, doing their own thing. No time for the kids. Not making family time happen.
