Hello. Just wondering if any folks have suggestions for good stores and gunsmiths in Collin County. Also looking for gun clubs or shooting clubs that won't break the bank on membership. Your wisdom is appreciated.

I'm in Frisco. My favorite gun store in Gunmaster in Plano or Cabelas in Allen. Most private ranges are expensive. I paid $500+ a year at Frisco Gun Club until I found this place....

$18/day for pistol and rifle. 50 miles from my house but worth the drive.

If you shoot 2 days a month you are still spending almost $500.
And evidently no 50 mile drive on top of that...

Fossil Pointe is worth the drive. I never like Frisco Gun Club but had a membership there for around 2 years. The only positive aspect was how close it is to my current home. The pistol ranges were ok. But the rifle range was terrible. Only 4 lanes available, usually one lane was broken down and people were always waiting for a lane. So they would bump you after a couple of hours if you were lucky. Almost impossible to work up loads on that ranges. Not worth $525 a year.

Only negative with Fossil Pointe, it's getting crowded.

I shoot at Bullet Trap. Membership is about 110 and it gives you $7.99 when you shoot instead of $17.99. You can pick their platinum option which is $360 and no range fees. They only have 2 rifle lanes and about 10 to 15 pistol lanes. It is a convenient place to shoot. On peak hours you may have to wait for up to 1 hour. I have used superior gun care next to bullet trap for some ultrasonic cleaning and lube, they seem to be ok. They also do some sights and trigger work. I used to have my trigger kit done at WhiteWing weaponary but they sold to some one else and left.

Gun store wise there are lots.
    1. Cabelas - large selection ( may pay $50 to $100 more )
    2. Mr. Guns - usually good deals.
    3. grabagun - good deals.
    4. Shootsmart - a bit away but good deals.

    Stopped by once.

Worst excuse for a range I have ever seen. They would need to pay me $40 to shoot there.

Whats up with the tubes you shoot through? I may need to shoot at B Tactical. Like the 300 and 400 yards ranges. And they allow FMJ.

I always liked Gun Gear to Go, too. I think they made a lot of hay post-Sandy Hook. Staff was always friendly. But they supposedly moved recently, a few blocks south on Central. I went by the new space this last Saturday at noon. The doors were locked and there were multiple delivery notices on the door. I am not sure Gun Gear to Go is staying in business?
