DALLAS - A Dallas convenience store clerk shot a robber early Tuesday morning.

Police said the robber had a bag in his hand and was demanding money from the clerk at a 7-Eleven store on Lake June Road in Pleasant Grove, which is in southeast Dallas.

The clerk pulled a handgun and shot the robber in the leg. He was later found bleeding outside another gas station.

Police looked at surveillance video and said the clerk is not expected to face any charges.

There were customers in the store at the time but no one else was hurt.

If you zoom in on the third picture, you can see there's a 30.07 sign. I wonder if the clerk will get fired.

7-11 is a mostly franchise business. If we stereotype the kind of folks that own these businesses, there's a good chance the clerk was either a relative or friend of the owner.

My guess is against firing. I also think they should hang a sign in the window advertising the number of robbers shot there, kind of like they do for winning lottery tickets sold at the location.

Would look better than the 30.07 sign.

    That is a great idea!

7-11 will get sued. The suspect will claim that he has lost use of his leg and has to walk with a cane. He was unjustly harmed by an evil fully semi-automatic assault pistol afterall.

Not in Texas. If it's decided to be a good shoot then there is no civil liability.

I think he was saying that 7-11, the corporation will be sued, not the shooter. I'm not sure how successful that would be, but sad as it might be, with the right loudmouth lawyer I bet they could get 7-11 to settle.

7-11 should make them all gun -free zones to keep this kind of tragedy from happening.

That's kind of dangerous for the clerks and employees isn't it? They should also make it a robbery free zone just to rule out the other types where a clerk might get hurt during a robbery.

You know, you might be on to something.

I'm thinking that we should make gun free zones shooting free zones.
