Our country is on the verge of making police a protected class which would tack a 10 year federal charge for injuring an officer. I'm afraid this BS will never get rolled back politically, at best we will need alot more jury nullifcation to keep our nation free; at worst we will need to exercise alot more 2nd amendment. :/

I pray eventually more people will open their eyes to the true failure that the drug war is and start to curb this excess, but I'm doubtful.

This is not about drugs. This is about abuse of no knock warrants for any suspected offense.

In an ideal world that is good advice. However, we no longer live in that type of world. Andy Taylor is not the police chief who knows everyone's name and business. There are accounts of people getting visits from SWAT because of prank calls: https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/23/us/kansas-police-shooting-swatting-lawsuit/index.html

We have over 3 hundred million people in the U.S.. Swatting is a rare occurrence. I don't care for anything CNN says. Can't stand the lean.

The ability to stay off the radar corresponds to the amount of police state. When it becomes impossible to avoid such things. That's when the sUCk becomes really real.

You break the law everyday you walk out the door. You may think you don't but the abundance of laws says you do. There's something written somewhere that says you can't be doing whatever you did.

Maybe I shouldn't had used Stay off The Radar. Should've said, don't become a brighter dot.

I agree with that, but I'd argue the vast majority of these type of raids are drug related. I don't know why common sense goes right out the windows when the authorities think they will be dealing with dopers.

Because you can seize the car, money and/or house if it's drug related. Plus it looks good on the news. You don't get the same fame recovering someone's piece of crap jet ski. The news picks it's hero's.

You're going to break into a mans house in Texas without announcing that you're with the police and then cry when you get shot?

    Fucking stupid.

Because there's all that SWAT gear and training; and the drugs and weapons and cashed all stacked up for the juicy photo op.

    Bing fark'n go ...
All that military and tacticool weaponry and bling.
And all you got to practice on is the citizenry ...

The drug war employees lots of people and redistributes a lot of wealth. It's like welfare or social security. Almost impossible to get rid of.

I live a couple blocks from where this happened. It is not the first raid in the area to go bad. This one, just made the news

I agree with that assessment. It will be very difficult to roll back, you will have the unions for those people crying that you are "anti-cop" every time someone tries. Sadly I think more case of policing being shot at, and then the homeowner acquitted by a jury would do more to get police agencies to change their ways.

BTW here is a recent case of Swatting here in Texas.
    https://abcnews.go.com/US/News/texas-family-targeted-swatting-prank/story?id=55206749

A 911 call on April 20 sent cops racing to an Arlington, Texas, home.
    ...
On the 911 call, a man with an accent can be heard saying, “I just shot my neighbor,” and providing the Ameen home address.
    ...
Police suspect the Ameen family may have been targeted because they refused to play along with a series of scam phone calls they had recently received. The Ameen family reported that an unknown individual had called from a 1-800-number, pretending to be from the IRS and demanding $5,000. Police said the family responded in an aggravated manner to the caller and yelled over the phone, possibly influencing the caller to take it a step further with a "swatting" prank.

I had a cousin who was a jp in hill co , as liberal as can be he would still never issue a no knock warrent to anyone without the threat of loss of life to someone in the home in imminant threat , those are dangerous for both parties especialy for something as stupid as that , i agree if you have complete knowledge there is something of reason for that type of warrent take the evidence on the for sure location to a judge. they should be avadable but unless its a threat to human life or the community a standard warrent would due . you knock in my door bullets are headed at you come what may .

While I agree with you, it seems the law is on their side, which is the problem.
How are the police on their side...?
GHG, please tell me you're trolling. That's forgiveable. You've done it before, sometimes to hilarious effect and I appreciated the humor.

OTOH, if you actually read "the law" and immediately, automatically assumed that meant "the police", then please confirm that.
