Try as they might they will never get a quality Sherrif to enforce gun grabs and the number of friends I have in the national guard and retired from (I didn't serve, just happens almost all of my friends were in), I can tell you the majority of them would just report back saying no guns were in the neighborhood.

That's oregon though. Texas is going to be a new experience. I'm extremely proud of Linn county oregon. Just about every leo does not support more gun control. More have popped up telling Kate brown they will not enforce any future gun control. I think this trend is also spreading nation wide. Make more rules...fine. What are they gonna do? Start a conflict because no one will enforce their stupid bs?

Well, I'm almost 73 years old and I've met a lot of cops in THIS area that would have NO problems kicking down my door and taking my guns. Not all law enforcement are the same as the ones in Oregon. But I guess we will all find out in time what our local cops will do when the nut cuttin starts.

With the internet, word spreads fast now. They start kicking in doors at 3am, folks are going to end up getting shot, especially if someone knows they might be coming. The defense before a jury for shooting someone kicking in your door at 3am isn't bad.

Of course you'd have to surrender the one gun that you did have, and happened to use in the shooting, but door kickers getting shot every night will limit the number of folks wanting to kick in doors.

Luckily the cops around me are the types to report no guns found.

And remember this: When the shit REALLY hits the fan, these are the FIRST folks who will be knocking down your door at 3 a.m. in the morning to forcibly remove your GUNS! It won't be the military until much later. I don't think cops should have any more legal protection than any run of the mill average citizen should have! This proposal is bullshit!
Do you really think police are going to round up 100,000,000, or so, so called assault rifles?

I think the local police will be the "sacrificial lambs", so to speak. They know the area, a lot of the people, etc. So they will be used first. And what happens after that will depend on how many of them are killed or shot.

Remember, they just sentenced a guy to prison a few days ago for shooting at some cops who kicked HIS door down in the wee hours! Don't expect that defense to fly for you.

I live in LOCKHART, obviously. I hope all this is just food for thought and never comes to pass. But we have to be vigilant. I fear very much for the future of our country, at least the way we have known it.

I didn't quote you're later comment about Austin but I agree. From the little time I spent there it sends me red flags. Its total early corvallis/Eugene oregon. I said this before in another thread but you guys need to keep that place in check. If Texas ever goes blue I garentee it will be from that place. All it takes is one or two cities/counties to make liberal heavens and the rest of the state is struggling to turn back red.

As far as local police being the test subjects this has already been going on in metro areas. Just Google Seattle, wa stories. Their police have decades of abuse. It sounds like I will rent in Euless for a while but when I'm ready to buy again I will be in the country and be looking for a Sherrif who stands with 2a rights.

F350-6, I just saw this on the news couple of days ago. The guy was shooting at the cops with an AK-47. He said he thought they were burglars. Help me out, fellows! I know I didn't dream this! LOL!

I just saw a thread about it here. Happened in Austin. No knock raid for a supposed drug dealing operation. They found less than 1 oz of weed in the house.

If you choose trial by jury, you've got to know who your peers are. In places like Austin, Dallas, Houston, don't expect juries to be sympathetic to gun owners.

If that's the case, the liberal places will all be disarmed, and those cities can then follow the likes of Chicago into a safer, gun free location.

Not good news for our side though. Can't imagine this will make it past appeals, but who knows.

The 4 largest cities in Texas - Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio (ADHS) all vote majority blue already and Austin is the smallest of the 4. I don't understand the basis of your comment.

ADHS are also some of the largest cities (based on city limits population, not metro area) in the US:
    Houston #4
    San Antonio #7
    Dallas #9
    Austin #11
