I understand innocent until proven guilty, but why allow a convicted felon with those in his possession to bond out?

Its California. They were trying to get a convict who literally blew the head off his victim with a shotgun released, and out of the death penalty.

Lots of stupid going around in Cali.

A felon with THAT many guns? Wonder if he was a black market arms dealer?

Maybe he just took the “leftovers” the cartels didn’t want from the ‘Fast and Furious’ gun running program. Think Eric Holder will testify on his behalf?

I’ll wager not a peeep will come out about how this guy managed to get all these guns while being a prohibited person.

The article lacks in facts, but when was this guy convicted of said felony?

True, but ya gots to admit, he DID have an arsenal...
You do realize that the word 'arsenal' is used to scare, as if there was a conspiracy to mount an attack. I have heard the word 'arsenal' far too often in cases where there were few to hundreds.

In the context of this thread, what is your point.
Are you saying that this wasn't an arsenal?

I’ve always said if the local news ever reported my ammo supply (meager as it is), it’d make the news, being described as a “stockpile”. Kinda synonymous with the term “arsenal”... are we talking four guns or four hundred? It’s one of those “flexible” terms the MSM loves to use - it can mean anything they want it to mean (at the time).

TAZ, you’re spot on about how the MSM is very unlikely to report how a felon slipped through the supposedly trustworthy ‘Background’ check system and California’s wait period and all the other ‘safe guards’ they have in place!

I’m also equally sure this will get the attention of the ATF (though they’re not likely to make their investigation results public).

Arsenal used to be defined as a military arms storage for use in military action, much like "assault rifle". I don't have a big collection of guns, but I do have many and certainly am not going to call it an arsenal. Using military terms, or what was considered military terms, has been a tactic that media uses to heighten a concern to their audience.

I would call this seizure a large haul, yes.

    Evidently the definition has changed.
This is the first to pop up when googled.

"a collection of weapons and military equipment stored by a country, person, or group."

As I said, used to be. Don't be surprised 'assault weapon' definition changes too.

Take a scenario case where someone is arrested on something unrelated to firearms. They search his home and find a half dozen guns, and instead of listing a number they say arsenal instead, now they imply something more nefarious then what he was originally charged with.

Nobody is disputing that the term is thrown around loosely, I just said that this is definitely an arsenal, lol...

I think it was the Waco incident where I heard the media use the term arsenal extensively. They at first made it sound as if the Davidians were stockpiling an arsenal and speculating as if they were plotting some kind of coup. At that time I kept asking "what constitutes an arsenal?" or "how many firearms do you need to have for an arsenal?" and at the time I couldn't find an answer other than what was defined back then in military terms.

    San Antonio!
Some will come up missing from the evidence room..............

I actually don't have a problem with that as it is still better than the alternative...

Just FYI, the SAPD has several thousand firearms secured that will eventually be destroyed. I have been offered a tour of the facility in which they are being stored, but declined as I believe it would be very depressing. It pains me to think this is the only destiny of these weapons, and how much is being lost because the city refuses to even consider selling them through a FFL to law-abiding citizens. Makes me sick to my stomach to think about it...:(
