You guys act like HIV is the plague... It's not... you can't even be put on disability with it because your life expectancy is damn near AVERAGE because of our ability to suppress the autoimmune disease. If I was in the military I'd be much more worried about getting something else, like cancer caused from exposure to heavy metals.

No one should be "non-deployable" in the military except on a temporary basis for specific reasons (i.e. pregnancy). HIV-positive is not a temporary condition, and given that it should prevent the individual from serving in a combat role, a person who is HIV-positive should not be allowed to serve in the military.

That said, I am surprised that there are separate conditions for this between enlisted and commissioned officers. The standard should be the same for all (no military service for HIV-positive individuals).

There are plenty of other ways for a person to serve their country outside of the military.

Coming soon to a base near you: On base housing and tricare for servicemembers married to their household pets.
Why not!? Bestiality, incest, necrophilia, hey all part of equal rights. California already welcomes drag queens in schools.

You missing it, they are SUING to let them in with HIV. NO ONE has a RIGHT to serve in the military, its a job with qualifications. Many have been turned down to illness or issues with feet, lungs, your name it. The military is not a day care center for the sick, lame and lazy...here to fight wars, not cure or treat your ills...

It’s about getting government paid benefits to pay for the HIV medication. Then when you get out VA covers it.
