Playing the word salad game sets you up to lose. The people who've bought into the postmodern sliding definitions won't accept your definitions because you're not their tribe.

The best thing to do is just call out their bullshit as meaningless and move on, but if you really want to debate them make them define their terms first. They usually can't or if they do will contradict their definition at some point because they have no objectivity in the first place. Substituting your own definitions will just get you in a pissing match about what the definition of is is.

I don't bother with debating a "true believer." They are a lost cause and a waste of time and oxygen. I will call them on phony statistics or sagecraft studies, especially if they have been debunked time and time again. My goal isn't to change their mind or even hope they will take a second look at the bilge they are spewing. I'm after the lurkers at the edge of the conversation, the ones who haven't swallowed the hook yet. Politely pointing out the errors in a study or a logical flaw or inconsistency in their views may plant some seeds in the undecided. If changing up the terminology starts some gears turning in their heads, I'll take that as a win.

I'm willing to converse with most anyone and don't really mind if I don't change their mind. I won't even try to talk with someone that won't let me talk without talking over me, that isn't a conversation.

To a bystander your word salad sounds the same as their word salad.

Don't know if I mentioned all the deals that were to be had in ny before they passed a few laws in 2012, I believe. They clamped down on ARs and then the ol' you gotta go through a FFL crap. AR lowers and parts and old rifles were a plenty. Some folks were hesitant to sell AR parts to someone else in that state (most were selling to get them out of the state) but I told 'em I was getting out of the state and the Marine Corps and heading back to a free land, Texas! Folks were nearly giving stuff away just so it would be in good hands.

    Am I tho only one who recalls item after item, telling U S voters that "AR 15 type weapons were rarely used in crimes in tvhe USA";

To then SEE a sudden rise in AR 15 crimes of violence.

Did someone instigate this, just to neuter that NRA "talking point" ?

    It’s still rare.

But an increase from 1, to let’s say 4, results in a “massive 400% spike in AR-related gun crimes” and there’s the sound bite the MSM is looking for.

Crazy times, indeed! Maryland's FSA 2013 had just the opposite effect. Under that law, you could keep them but they had to have been in your possession by Oct. 1, 2013. The panic over the summer was intense. Prices jumped and the lines at gun stores were out the door and down the block by mid-September. So happy to say goodbye and good riddance to that foolishness.

Calculated move by the pussies that are trying to become notorious. Using an AR is a sure fire way to make the evening news.

Handguns are still by far the most popular with typical criminals.

For people who had the resources, the same thing was true when Australia (in 1996) and England (in 1988 and especially in 1997) passed their final laws making most guns illegal. Sure, there are still lots of legal guns in those places but "lots" and "enough, along with the legal right to use them" are two completely different things.

During my 50 years as an American Physician, I have seen two children KILLED by a BB gun. IDK which kind of "BB gun", but the fatal projectile was a regular steel "airgun" BB in both cases. I SAW this myself.

Perhaps we should begin loading the media with "BB Gun" stories, no ?

They would just turn around and try to ban BB guns. Don't think they would be that stupid? Several delegates from Baltimore, MD, ranked as one of America's most dangerous cities, were pushing legislation two years ago to ban possession of not only BB guns, but also Airsoft and other toy guns.

NJ exporting some of their current laws again?

Woman offered me a really good job opportunity in California. I said I won't go.

Her: No problem it’s a wildly progressive school that I don’t really understand but saw it and thought I should share.

Me: Can't live in California, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Maryland, and Pennsylvania

Her: Damum that’s a bunch of no states.

Me: yeah well View attachment 140948 I don't want to be a felon so I won't move there. Half the firearms I own are banned there

None of those firearms are banned in PA heck you can buy a Barrett 50 in PA. I know I lived there. In PA, we can carry mostly anywhere concealed and don’t have the 3006 or 3007 signs

I was referring to California. PA I just wouldn't move to on principle. I realize I miscommunicated that in my post.
