One of the places that still make Texas GREAT! I know it's ABC and it at times seems they are trying to sway your thoughts, but this was very interesting to me, and frankly makes me feel good that there are still places like this. It's about 39 minutes long, but on the whole I liked it.

Of course they are trying to sway thoughts. In the title it mentions a year in the town. Ok...so? F-you ABC. Only 900 people in that town? Hm...that's important why? So a community that small that thinks alike is somehow news worthy? Again, f-off ABC. Then you got the reporter in her fancy coat walking with body language that reminds me of Robert stack. "Tonight!...on unsolved mysteries!...this town of only 900 people voted for trump...".

Actually, I thought it was as close to journalism as I've seen from MSM in quite awhile. From my point of view the reporter only had opinions but doesn't live there, so I only take it with a grain of salt. What the people of Miami said is what I felt mattered, not a guess of what they meant. Communities like that give me hope that the world hasn't totally gone down the toilet.

I think it is great they voted for Trump, but I spent a what felt like a year up in that part of Texas one week and have no desire to ever go back.

LOL, I don't think it was promotion to move there. Other than the fact it's a farming community I didn't see that there is much to draw people there, maybe more than Odessa though.

Why do I have the feeling a guy could leave his vehicle unlocked, windows down, gun in a rack in the back window, and not have any problems there?

This is the America I want.

To me, this is how life used to be across most of America, the only real interest in politics is how it would effect them and their community, although they certainly knew Clinton would have destroyed them.

This also describes (or did 15 years ago) Leakey, county seat of Real County. One summer day, to enter the courthouse, I walked by the high shurf's car. All windows were down and there was a 1911 tucked between driver seat & console in plain sight. I got the impression that was an every day thing.

Finally took time to watch it.
Not bad. Stirred some memories of growing up in a very similar town.
Hard to ignore the "push" for someone to say they don't like Trump though.

When it popped up in youtube I half expected it to be mainly propaganda against Trump, but although ABC News is left on the spectrum I didn't find it in bad taste, and I thought it was cool that a town that voted almost exclusively for Trump was close.

I think Burleson is pretty pro Trump town. However our mayor is a virtue signaling lefty. I don’t think most voters pay attention to local elections.

Most folks just want to live life and be left alone. I am still pretty much that way. 8 years of Obama and the democrats had started to encroach on those lives, and it's human nature to resist encroachment. That's what got Trump elected.

Most folks just want to live life and be left alone.
    Most but not all.

I once tried to extricate myself from a conversation in a hospital waiting room where the TV was blaring some story that got people in the room talking. One woman seemed particularly agitated so I tried to leave the conversation by saying the most innocuous thing I could think of, something I thought no one could disagree with.

"Well, I guess he just wanted to be left alone."

The woman then started screaming at me about how we're not alone in this world, we all have to live together, and anybody who just wants to be left alone is crazy.

I shut up. She stormed out. I'm always in a forgiving mood in a hospital because I have no idea if the person I'm talking to might have a loved one 100 feet away, dying.

But the incident did firmly plant in my mind the notion that there are plenty of folks out there who think it's not just OK but highly virtuous for society to meddle in the affairs of individuals because there are no individuals. You're a member of society and you don't have any right to be left alone.

That someone could hold such a view shocked me. I was a lot younger then.

I'm surprised it's even that many

What's really disappointing is when you see the same mentality on here.

The point I was making is that people that had that mentality can't just sit back anymore. They are making their voices heard and that is what swung the presidential election, and hopefully it won't stop there.
