I guess the high crime of being politically incorrect could be applied. I had heard mention of addresses being given out, but then given the chief's track record I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that either.

An address allegedly belonging to the Chief was put out in the live stream chat by 3rd parties, judging by his extreme overreaction it was likely correct. Nobody actually protesting gave out the address, or asked for the address to be put out. Moderators on the chat removed the address when they could but there were several hundred to thousands of people watching and chatting on the various streams, the chat was flying by.

This is the section they are misapplying.

A person commits an offense if the person posts on a publicly accessible website the residence address or telephone number of an individual the actor knows is a public servant or a member of a public servant's family or household with the intent to cause harm or a threat of harm to the individual or a member of the individual's family or household in retaliation for or on account of the service or status of the individual as a public servant.

Notice what I bolded. It is wrong to arrest and charge people for the unsolicited actions of a 3rd party. The person responsible would be the person who actually posted the info, but even then only if they intended to cause harm.

I wonder if anyone has notified the County Judge or the Rangers of what is happening.

If you run a government agency and you act like an ass on camera, you'll get doxxed. Is the chief so ignorant he didn't realize that long before he took any aggressive action?

Oh, wait. I've seen him on video. I think I already know that answer.

If the folks (or, more likely, the friends of the folks) who got arrested want to escalate peacefully, the next logical step would be to start protesting in front of his house. I wonder how he'd react to that?

The protesters were out there for several hours, finally the police Chief came out and claimed that he would hold a press conference. Everyone gathered up, then the police comes out and arrests several people again alleging that there were death threats (by random people) on their livestream chats, then all cameras were seized as "evidence."
 I don't think they understand livestreaming...

    Any updates on this??

From what I've heard everyone that has been arrested was either released with no charges, or out on bond. At this point it seems like there won't be any further organized protests since they already have enough evidence of wrongdoing, there is no point in continuing to get arrested for false charges and having property stolen, so they are going to have lawyers fight the charges and then sue the officers and the city. There is a good chance the officers will lose their qualified immunity because of their actions. Allegedly someone spoke to the city manager and they still claim to support the police chief.

Here are two good summaries on this mess in Leon Valley for anyone who wants to share it with others.

When the public does not yield in fear and abstract acquiescence to the terrible power and magnificence of your High Office, you must press the heals of your boots on their throats.....

    A lawsuit was filed.
    https://www.themaven.net/pinacnews/...-in-fear-for-his-life-ZRNyFmCkjUWS8DOLNyci7A/

The lawsuit was filed electronically on the Fourth of July as a symbolic gesture on behalf of our Constitutional rights, which were trampled upon by Chief Salvaggio and his police force.

The lawsuit, filed by attorney Solomon Radner, highlights three incidents where either activists were ordered to stop recording or had their recording devices seizes, even though the activists were on public property where nobody had an expectation of privacy.

Radner is representing 11 activists in his suit. That is just the first lawsuit of more to come.

That’s a good first step in “correcting” this travesty of justice. If the city council has any halfway intelligent members on it, they’ll start to re-think their support of this police chief and the police force they’ve allowed him to develop.

I suspect “the chief” had better find himself a little better defense than claiming he was in fear for his life. When compared to taking away someone’s Constitutionally protected Rights, I’m inclined to believe his “fear” (especially as an officer of the law), ain’t gona hold up too well. At least it wouldn’t with me, if I were on the jury!

Plus none of that would explain why he would feel a need to confiscate every one's electronic devices in the general area.

I hope the chief finds another job.
