Regarding guns sales, I purchased two pistols and two rifles (one SBR) so far this year because I like to shoot and intend to defend my family in the event criminals attack us or our home. I’m not worried about liberals (they hate guns, remember, how do you think they will “start killing”) nor zombies for that matter. I consider zombies more likely than a civil war with libs- as someone said above, way too much apathy.

You clearly are not old enough to be on a college campus in the 60's like I was and you have conveniently forgot about the guy out to just "klll Republicans" at a softball game, think Steve Scalise, had the guy been a good shot he would have taken out more than a few.

Remember that BGCs are performed all the time on used firearms... that doesn't add to the total number, so the original article's thinking is 100% flawed on that regard.
I have theory... lots of guns were hocked/sold to put food on the table during the lean times of Obama's economy... Now that the economy is better, more people are employed, they're butting a gun back in their closet/safe once again. There were people that bought them during the lean times because they were still doing well enough... but unemployment was really high for while.

Why? My take is,
1) the public has gotten used to buying more often due to the previous administration and the threat of Hillary.
2) production ramped up during the mentioned demand and when Trump one, prices fell through the floor. Now folks used to buying firearms suddenly are seeing prices they haven't seen before/in a long time.
3) the media is still nice enough to push gun control and say everyone in the US wants it. Add that little bit of what if to the low pricing and this is what you get.
