DRT can’t fundraise for crap, so maintenance and improvement has been minimal.

Yeah, I wasn’t complimenting their maintenance and upkeep - I agree it was lacking. But I attributed it to them generally not having the funds available to do it justice. What I was in agreement with, was their approach in trying to handle the tourism and keeping a respectful approach to the place. I’m sure that’s a difficult balance to achieve.

I believe even Jerry Patterson has endorsed the Democrat, P is anti-gun and wants to 're-imagine' the Alamo as a Spanish settlement - ignoring the events of 1836!

This parable like warning may help people see the danger of ALLOWING LIBTARDS INTO OFFICE. Any office at any level for any reason.
I'm not completely familiar with a the whole Alamo thing and I'm an AZ native so this is about AZ specific history but change the names and it's the same everywhere.

Every now and then a Democrat gets elected to a local or lower state office cause they might be a marginally better candidate. Hell they may even be "otherwise Qualified" for the job but they are still political WMD's and the will blow up at some point.

People like Janet Napolitano, who came dangerously close to being Vice president with Obama, and had way too much power under Obama all because she was given some name recognition by working her way up the ladder. Low information voters sometimes vote only because they are familiar with the name. They think, "how bad could they be cause other people voted for them and I never "heard" anything bad about them in the "news".

Then you have the county commissioners and mayors and city council folks who have slowly over a couple decades turned enough parts of AZ dim that Nappy won the Gov office. There are serious consequences for allowing dims in anywhere. Beside them taking your stuff and there tyrannical local control they have dangerous agendas. Kinda like bad HOA's on steroids. Not to mention the liberal control of government and multiple levels.

I see from living in Texas the last few years you have the same thing happening here in several cities and counties. The danger is liberals care about one thing. Their progressive agenda and freedom isnt part of it. It's all about control.

All it takes is one perfect storm to get enough elected that they could do serious damage. Say redistricting or local law changes to help keep them in power. Hell, look at what Hillary did when she illegally, or at least unethically, was allowed to control from the shadows the DNC during the last election. She did that crap to her fellow Democratic opponents in the primary. Not to mention money laundering and control of state Dim orgs and their money messaging and operations. The DNC chair person who allowed her to do this was just a shiny new liberal local candidate at some point.

Nope you never vote for libtards. You would be smarter to carry scorpions in your skivvies. It would hurt less and do less damage.

Just look at Colorado. Not to long ago a beautiful state of freedom. One bad state level election cycle of local candidates and POOF they are California. They recalled the bastards and voted others out but the damage there may be permanent.

People get the Government they deserve and if you vote for dims you will definitely get what you deserve. You won't like it.

It goes beyond politics to unintended consequences. I won't tell the story as it's not relevant here, but these turds can destroy lives and get people killed or seriously hurt because of policy decisions. Look up the story of the corrections officer raped hundreds of times, by inmates who took her hostage, because of how Nappy... i.e.Janet Napolitano phuked up stuff she had no clue about, or the destroyed career's and livelihoods of several life long state employees who told her the way she was making decisions regarding changing the names of stuff like mountains was illegal and against the law.

Point is liberals will act like liberals because that's what they are. They really believe you're stupid and unable to comprehend that what the want to do is the shining path to a better tomorrow and will lie to you and destroy you, the country, the constitution and anything or anyone in their path.

DONT FRAKING TRUST THEM... EVER! You would be better off to send your kids to daycares ran by pedophiles in nudist colonies where they show child porn instead of cartoons and put sedatives in the snacks for a more compliant victim.

    To All,

Fwiw, I'm an Alamo docent & several things NEEED doing & SOON, imo.
(The following list is just SOME of those things.)

    1. CLOSE the "carnival side show" across the street from The Shrine & level the buildings that those "tourist traps" currently occupy,
    2. Close Alamo Street forever and re-route it away from The Shrine.
    3. Acquire ALL of the land where the main portion of the Battle was fought & preserve it FOREVER.
    4. Get professional archeologists to find & mark all the graves/resting places of the dead & hopefully find/report all the 19th Century relics that are found.
    5. Find & mark the location of the funeral pyre, where our martyrs were burned AND the places where "the main players" died.
(COL Travis' place of death is known but UNMARKED.)
    6. Rip up most of the concrete & plant the lawn areas with NATIVE Texas flowers & grass.
    7. MOVE the Centennial Cenotaph to the edge of the BATTLEFIELD & PROHIBIT by Constitutional Amendment EVER removing the Cenotaph from the property.
(The DIMocRAT extremists want it just plain REMOVED forever.)
    8. REPAIR the roof/walls/floor of the Church, as lots of the sanctuary needs to be fixed.
    9. Rebuild the wall where it was on the morning of the Dawn Battle, including the wooden palisade (where COL Crockett & the TN men fell.)
    10. PROHIBIT any but memorial ceremonies and/or displays from the Church.
(There are plenty of other places that things like gun collections can be displayed on the Battlefield.)
    11. MOVE the GIFT SHOP to the edge of the property & convert that building to a display area for historical relics, like the Phil Collins collection of Alamo items.
    12. BUILD a Visitor's Center on the edge of the Battlefield to get the NOISE & commercial sales to the edge of the Battlefield & away from the Church.
    AND
    13. Figure out a way to remind visitors that The Alamo is a SHRINE & NOT suitable for dogs, crowds of running screaming kids, men wearing hats inside the Church & to keep the Church a place of QUIET contemplation of the martyrdom of our heroes.

    just my OPINIONS, satx

    AustinN4.

I suspect the same motivation on the committee's part.

IF I had my way, you would have to be TEXAS-BORN & raised to be involved as a "decisionmaker"in the renovation of the Battlefield/Shrine.

While I'm NO particular "fan" of George P, he's NOT a RADICAL LIB like Suazo IS.

My family and I went to the Alamo 2 years ago. I thought it was beautiful. I thought the grounds were very nice and kept well. The mission was nice but I could see several spots that needed to be repaired. There was a lot of city noise and tourists close by. I'm not sure you can reclaim all the land you are wanting. The city was allowed the encroach years ago.
SATX, I'm good with everything else on your wish list.

edit: Born and raise in Texas.

    sucker76,

According to CURRENT TX LAW, the whole battlefield should be reclaimed/restored to it's 1836 "look" under Eminent Domain, because it is "the final resting place" of not only our TX Martyrs but also of civilians & the Mexican soldados. = My reading of the law is that there is NO other possible use for the property other than a MEMORIAL PARK.
(Imo, the SA city government should have NO role in decision-making for The Shrine, as they are ALL liberal DIMocRATS.)

Btw, we also should abolish the Alamo Rangers & replace them with Texas DPS troopers, as sooner or later there WILL be a SERIOUS DISRUPTION on the property & a handful of security guards are NOT the answer to such a problem.
Note: LICENSED CCW/LTC persons should NOT be disarmed on The Alamo Battleground, as is now the policy of the "security guards". = I've personally been told to. "go store your pistol in your car".

100% behind you. When I was a kid, me n my buddies played on the front lawn of the Alamo, I was always Davy Crockett and my buddy was Jim Bowie, this was back in the early 50' and we were there almost evert weekend.

John Wayne paid for all the kids at my school and I guess the others also to be bused over the the Woodlawn movie house where he had his grand opening of the movie the Alamo and we got to take off from school and go see the movie. WOW.

The Alamo is SCARED ground to me, its where I grew up! Don't TREAD on my Alamo!!!

I'll be holding my nose and voting D, George P Bush is a spoiled rich kid that decided he wanted to run for office and used outside money to needlessly oust a great Land Commissioner (Jerry Patterson).
Some here seem to have forgotten that one of P's first actions was an attempt to ban guns from state property...
