Yet rallies do not have to be yelling or bashing heads in the street. They can be a public display of support for a position and a display of solidarity. I think your earlier point on having the counter rally separated by some distance (yet perhaps not too distant) bears serious consideration.
The problem with this is that no matter how much distance you put between "us" and "them", they will make it a point to move their rally, or organise a seperate rally, to your location and cause trouble. They have done it in the past. Then, when the media reports it, they will show how "violent" our rally was compared to their "peacefull" rally. Its all about propoganda!

Right now, they are shooting themselves in the proverbial foot because, when they rally, there is violence and destruction. The vast majority of americans want to go to work, come home, raise their kids and live a relatively comfortable life. These are the "silent majority" that got Trump elected and have praised what he is doing. The left's rallys are completely opposite of this and hurt thier cause MUCH more than help it! Rallying against them is a very risky proposition with a good chance that the mainstream media, with the help of a counter rally, is going to twist our actions into causing the exact thing we are trying to show we are against!

The best way to deal with a toddlers tantrums is to ignire them and, from what ive seen, the far left/antifa rallys appear to be nothing more than temper tantrums!

Now what I would like to see is the police come in, bust some heads and arrest anyone who is breaking the law, then the courts throw the book at them! No more "We also gave those who wish to destroy space to do that as well" like the mayor of baltimore said during the riots for freddy gray!!!

Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians!

There are "groups" who insist on being with "us" that even take things to courts because they want to be where we are. I have never heard of some groups though suing to be able to live in some places while others want to be everywhere they are not wanted.

All these protests are alienating regular people; not convincing more to join.

I work in downtown Austin and saw a couple of the Trump derangement protests first hand. General consensus from my coworkers, who are mostly well left of center, was that the protests were annoying and pointless.

It's not something you want to emulate.

Let them protest. I think it just helps the right MUCH MORE. when many so called moderates see how some "people" act they get lots more conservative. No doubt many of those riots in 2016 only helped President Trump

Seems like I recall a Dim shooting up a bunch of republicans at there baseball practice but I guess that is not included because the violence was against republicans.

I'm thinking it's just a matter of time before a member of one side or the other, puts a firearm into the mix and then it's ON!

I just dont see a civil war happening like some have mentioned. There has already been violence at rallies, including an attack with a car / defending against violence with a car. And the shooting at the softball game.

There are extremists on both sides. But I don't see me squaring off at high noon against my democrat brother in law over some antifag who might shoot a Trump supporter. I think Americans as a whole are much too smart to fall for that type stuff. Which is what got Trump elected to start with.

Your democrat brotehr in law is probably reasonalbe. Its the ones who are not that will be the issue. I hope not, but it could happen. Think of this. If a country really wanted to cyber attack us they could crash the ebt system and welfare system that pays people out on those cards. You know where the riots would be and that would probably start it.

I made the statement (to a leftist co-worker) before the primary elections that Trump being elected had the highest possibility for violence, but that it wouldn't be the fault of Trump.

It's a matter of demographics... those that opposed Obama the most, and would have been most upset by Killary or Komrade Bernie would be middle and upper-class... people with something to lose, and them being elected would be a slow, grinding death of the country by economic failure... not until a total collapse of the economy would you see widespread violence. But among those that oppose Trump (or Cruz) would be professional welfare recipients, illegal immigrants, and criminal elements. They have far less to lose as a whole, and would be much quicker to resort to rioting in the streets and violent acts... so I predicted that a Trump presidency in particular (as Cruz is more of an establishment Republican, but would also be true to a lesser extent, since there would be less disruption of the status quo) would be good for the country long-term, it would undoubtedly result in more short-term violence.

When she considered this carefully, she couldn't disagree with me... She did see that continuing to give away entitlements would eventually collapse the economy, even... we just don't agree on how much entitlements is "too much".

Well, I worked all my damn life for my "entitlement", (social security) and I want every damn penny that's coming to me! People who lump the free loading bastards on welfare with folks getting their just dues from social security really piss this old man off! We are in NO way like the people on welfare, a lot of whom have been gaming the system all their worthless damn lives!

I musta missed something. When did SS come up in this thread? BTW, I agree with what you said above and feel the same way. I worked consistently and paid the SS tax my whole life since I was 14 until I retired. I want what is due me.
