Plan B is the gun. Plan A is running away

I do keep pepper spray in the car in case I have to go in somewhere that is posted, but that's more of a plan F... I'd never carry it normally.
I do. But it's for four-legged critters that don't know any better. There's lots of dogs around here with bad absent owners. I don't want to hurt a dog for doing what comes naturally to a dog when the real problem the two legged animal that doesn't socialize or contain them.

Plan A should be empty hand because honestly it is gonna be bad breath distance usually. Plan B is create distanc, draw and fire until threat is down.

I carry a knife and baton on me. In work SUV, O carry OC Spry and still 90% of time it will still be empty hand.

Aren't batons illegal to carry in Texas?

Not always. Lawful for LE or certain security guards with a baton card or as below:

Sec. 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person:
    (1) intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun or club; and
    (2) is not:
    (A) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or
    (B) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person's control.

i thought it was ok if you have your carry license and firearm on you, but I have been wrong before and some cops that don't know the rules might make you have a bad day for doing it.

You're thinking of the loophole that previously allowed someone with a CHL to carry whatever knife they wanted.
That loophole that got Matefrio arrested.

It had nothing to do with clubs, but I could be wrong too. LOL

    Yup.

I was trying to be helpful in case the guy didn't realize.

For some. Carry a ball peen hammer in the car then. I walk the dog in FtW with a baton, cane, a bokken, etc. I had FtW PD swing by one night due to gunshots in area, common in East FtW. They asked if I saw something but didn't mention my unleashed dog or what I was carrying that night.
Most folks that are law abiding and mind their own business will rarely be stopped and searched by police but yeah, you need to know the laws of your state.
Hack, some nights I even OC. It depends on my attire and temperature outside.

    Ok.
I didn't realize I was dealing with an anime warrior. Lol

When I worked armed security some 35+ years ago, our company got around the baton loophole by giving us a 5 "C" cell maglight.

I actually still have it in my truck.
Doesn't the security guard exemption only apply while actually on the job as well?
I'd never carry a baton or anything, just curious at this point

    You may have misread.
We carried a flashlight, not a baton.

Weapons could only be worn when in complete uniform, and either in transit to/from the job, or obviously at the job as well.

That "tool" goes way back: I personally saw a Houston cop use one on a "suspect" way back when (1968), so Maglites were probably used as a "persuader" since they first came out. ;-)
Yep, the 1960s -- those were the days...

    @ BRD@66:
Oops...I guess Mag-Lite doesn't go back that far ('68) even if the company itself was (1950s).. All I know for sure is that it was a long, serious & metal flashlight and most cops carried them...but as mentioned, not just for their lighting up the "crime scene" capabilities but communicating with any captured "suspects."
Thanks for the info on Kel-Lite,
