    In the woods...
Can you ice it? Some kind of soak to draw infection out?

    I’m worried.

I actually iced it twice, due to your advice, before going to the doc. It helped a lot and looked a bit better by the time he saw it.

He said it looked more like a copperhead got me, but the story and the timeframe indicate otherwise.

If your bite was from a scorpion and you plan to treat, Cy-Kick CS works great on scorpions (and most other bugs for that matter). It's like bug armageddon when I spray that stuff. I put a barrier around my house plus on patios/porches and garages.

Doc has me on a z-pac and prednisone, and icing the ankle twice daily. He seems to think the heat and pressure from my lace up work boots exacerbated things. I'm wearing loose, low shoes for a few days and directed to report any change, other than positive, immediately.

Thanks for all the advice and concern!
Good to hear... glad your alright man.

    Yep.
    Bumblebee .

I was thinking bumblebee or a wasp. I saw one I've never seen before yesterday. Sucker climbed out of the ground. I blasted him with the hose, pinned it to the fence, then stepped on him to kill it. Big as a bumblebee, but looked like a yellow jacket.

Cicada killers are pretty benign as far as stinging goes. Males don't even have stingers, and females are not aggressive at all.

I don't think it was the culprit at all, just clarifying identification. I've never known anyone who has been stung by a Cicada killer.

From the description, reaction, and other things mentioned most likely a stripped scorpion. Hurts, but allergic reactions to striped scorpion stings are extremely unusual. Hymanoptra (bees, ants, wasps) are far more dangerous in terms of allergic reactions.
