    To All,

IF I ever had the bucks to own a big block of Colt or S&W stock, I would insist that they LEAVE DY-land forever & move to TX.

Plenty of space here for both. AND we have the people who would want to work for an arms company.

    yours, satx

    I definitely do not.

S&W made a deal to avoid some law suits that would have bankrupted the company. It was a survival move. The deal the company be immune form any of the law suit BS that was going on from the anti gun organizations of time. I have two revolvers with the so called Hillery hole and it does not bother me bit. It if did, I'd just take the dammthing out.

In 2007 I traded in my old 1980 S&W model 63 kit gun for the new model 63 kit gun that they added the fiber optic front sight, and the 8 shot cylinder. In the past 11 years I've fired many several thousands of rounds through it with no problems. And my aging eyes can see the front sight so much better.

Last spring I had the privilege of buying a brand new S&W airtight J frame. For over a thousand rounds now it has performed flawlessly from round one. It even shoots to point of aim. plus or minus an inch or so vertical depending on what load is going down the pipe like a 158 lead round nose or 125 hollow point. The 158 lead round nose hits a tad low by an inch.

Let me ask yo a question back; would you have preferred to see an old company like S&W go bankrupt from the anti gunners law suits?

    That was the alternative.

I never said that I think S&W should have not struck a deal. Actually when this all went down I did not even know about it and was too young to even care. I was just posing a simple question since I have seen people on other forums still to this day saying they will not buy S&W products.

Since you are asking, no I am very happy S&W did not go under and I own several of their weapons and would still like to add more.

It's easy to say they should move, along with many other long standing firearm manufacturers around that area, but put aside the money it would cost to move. The history and traditions that those companies have going back to their founders and the people who work there and have worked there. Not everyone can afford to move, so that means many would have to be replaced. Some whose fathers and mothers had worked there before them. The workmanship and quality would probably suffer. Look at what happened to Bushmaster after the company was sold and moved. The big reason Windham Weaponry has seen some success is that most the company is employed by the craftsmen from Bushmaster.

LOL! Uh, what kinda "master craftsman" doe's it take to build one of those aluminum & plastic turds? Hell, they have kits so bubba can build one at HOME! You ain't gonna build a model 27 at home. Besides the fact that nearly every manufacturer of those Mattel wonders are ripping the buying public off with the ridiculous prices they charge! I have one, paid 499.99 at Cabelas for it, and it will do for me just as well as one costing 2500.00! Only reason I bought the damn thing is because a certain jug-eared, horse-faced piece of commie shit, who just happened to be in a certain high political office, said I shouldn't be able to OWN one!

Say what you want, but I'll take Windham Weaponry over a Bushmaster any day of the week.

Besides the fact that I was using it as an example of moving a firearms business, not comparing them to Smith & Wesson.

Companies that remain in hostile territory are being extremely obdurate--sometimes to their own doom.
Possibly, but wouldn't that make older models more valuable if quality were to suffer due to a move and training a new workforce? How many of those employees that have been there for decades would be willing to make the move?

    Gunz are icky.
Its probably a little bit of everything discussed.
S&W as a company isn't all that large of an operation.
Skilled workforce and/or management doesn't want to leave the area.
Local and state gov would fight them. Costing $$$.
Building a new site, getting it up and running, making quality product are huge undertakings.
It very well could sink the company. Look at what happened to Remington.

    Moonpie,

REMAINING in DY-land, among the HATERS/lunatics/weirdos/leftists, is more likely to sink S&W than moving out of MA forever will.

    just my opinion, satx

I certainly feel the same way about the AR, or as I knew it, the M16. After I got out of the army, I never wanted to see one again, let alone handle one this things again. To this day all my guns have nice walnut stocks and blue jobs except for the stainless revolvers. All my guns are revolvers and lever action rifles.

BUT...because of that oath I took, to protect and defend the Constitution Of The United States, I will join in the fight to the death to defend that Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. That would include jug eared horse faced politicians of sociast leanings.
