Growing up in the 1950's I watched a lot of westerns and cop shows. Had a bad influence on me. Later on it was Joe Friday and Reed and Malloy.
Not saying you should get into AR's, that's up to you, but I will tell you that I have let others shoot one of my Ar's that have shot many guns but never got into AR's, and the next thing I know they are wanting to show me their new AR.

Oh yeah, I hated ARs for the longest time, what with all the buttons and levers and stuff here and there and over there, and you have to break it all apart to clean it, waaaaah! Gimme some good ole bolt action, or maybe an AK if we wanna go all modern! Only reason people want AR's is because suddenly they were told they can't have them!
Dumb, LOL. It's such nice and easy to shoot gun, reliable, accurate, light, doesn't kick you in the face when you shoot it, and you can have it in any shape or form you want it. All old school Vietnam era like, or decked out in the latest tacticool stuff like a Barbie.

I kept mine somewhat in between, with just a Bushnell TRS-25 and a Magpul adjustable stock:

Mostly Smith and Wesson revolvers and Marlin lever action rifles. My favorite combo is my old Model 19 and the Marlin 1894 in .357. Like keeping the ammo supply simple. All my Marlins have the Williams foolproof peep sight with the screw in aperture removed for ghost ring shooting quick in low light conditions.

I'm not trolling, but am just really curious about the AR. I defend any gun owners right to own and shoot whatever you want. Some people like scotch for some reason, some like bourbon.
I love the Marlin lever actions, at least the older ones before the corp was ruint by Remington.... And keeping ammo supply simple is a great idea- I try to avoid too many calibers, but sometimes something speaks to me...

I've got a JM stamped 1895 Guide gun, with a scout scope (good eye relief even for 45-70). I've had an itch to get a ridiculous revolver to match the caliber... a Magnum Research BFR 5 shot, weighs over 4 Lbs! I am partial to SAA revolvers, or double action bear protection (I grew up in Alaska- so even though I don't think I'll encounter big bear here in TX, I still love big bore revolvers.)

What kind of melody does this make?

Lol. I'm kinda ambivalent towards them. If SHTF, I'm taking my Colt 6920. I like shooting my 6.5 Grendel - what it should have been, or the 6.8. To each his own. I love shooting my bolt guns more, but it would have been a wildly superior weapon the last time I sort of went rabbit hunting.

My dad having a Colt AR in Vietnam made me attracted to them.

    Here is my Colt SP1

Come on Ben, tell us about it, quit teasing....
I apologize; I didn't mean to mislead anyone.

That's just a generic AR-pattern space gun for high power shooting. I just pointed to a random picture I found on the internet.

I don't even own an AR but I know they can be wonderful target rifles.

Roger/Flash could tell us a lot more about the subject than I ever could.

Funny, I like my AR well enough. It's a good rifle, but I actually enjoy shooting my AKs more. Don't really have a good reason. I guess I just like the "rawness" of the AK vs the "refinement" of the AR.

I like them both... does that make me... and ammosexual?

(even though none of the things I do with guns even remotely involve the groin area)
