Been noticing that lately we have had numerous relitively new members not following the rules for posting in the classifieds.

The number 1 issue that I see is them not putting their location in the thread title, which indicates to me that they probably didn't bother to read the rules first.

Don't know about anyone else, but it tics me off to click on a WTS ad that I am interested in only to find out the seller is nowhere near where I am, which is the whole purpose of listing the location in the thread title in the first place.

So for the new guys, here are the rules:

But that would be breaking the rules to post it in their fore sale thread.
    Correct.

So hit the report button. It'll get fixed.

I'm not speaking for others on staff since we each have our own workflow but, personally, I'd also appreciate if reports made note of repeat violators if you just happen to notice them. It's not the job of anyone to look for them but if you happen to notice, it's always good to mention it in the report.

I used the term "staff" generically. Technically, there are staff, moderators, administrators, and many other user groups. I just think of everyone as "staff".

Plenty of opinions on how to deal with classified violations. Everything from a friendly fix to deleting the thread and sending a note saying why it was deleted.

The problem with using one method is that sometimes a long time member will have a brain fart and sometimes a new member will intentionally ignore the rules. So it usually comes down to a judgement call.

That said, the mods don’t see everything and sometimes may see but not notice. Reporting or flagging the post is the best option. It will notify all site “staff” and someone will get to it.

I will usually message the user. Message varies depending on the user history and problem with the thread.
