GHG, seems to me they already had their ‘eyes on the prize’ when the Chief rather quickly declared it wasn’t an OIS, since she was off the clock.

Huh, how times changed. Back in the day you were held accountable to Dept rules and regulations 24/7. It outlined certain circumstances (primarily life threatening, not yours) where if you didn't take action you were subject to disciplinary action.

Something like that may not even come out until her trial. But it undoubtedly will come out, especially if it’s to the prosecution advantage.

My implication isn't that the department would cover anything up. My implication is that a lot of people wouldn't trust the department NOT to cover anything up.

By calling in the Rangers it removes that issue. The department no longer has to deal with those suspicions and can instead work on more important things. Handing off the investigation to a trusted LE organization implies nothing about dishonesty.

From my prospective, (unlike the FBI) the Texas Rangers have a reputation of the highest integrity. Placing this incident in their venue demonstrates a willingness to seek justice, impartially.

Well I am gonna kinda combine this thread with the Beto thread. Beto came out over the weekend and stated she should be fired. Pfft, forget about due process.... The problem is of course that can't be done yet.
I got an alert from DERT. They are having another protest tonight by PD station and into downtown.

Gee, carry a coffin into city hall to protest but don't care about an officer who was killed protecting others. The stuff DFW & media are made of. Stop showing this stuff on the nitely news and they go away. What a bunch of 'victims'.

Odd response from Beto. I figured he'd show professional courtesy for someone who was on another person's property without permission......
