threaded my .30cal can onto my new barrel to check it out and I ran a (Dewey)cleaning rod through and it was off center but it had a little wiggle room so it may have been the rod has a slight bend. I spin the rod and it mostly stays somewhere between 1/32-1/16(I'd guess) off center. One time I check it seems ok check again not so much haha.

Any other ways to check without it being costly? I'd hate to ruin a $800 can with a test shot.

I've looked down the bore but same story once it seems ok, the next I'm not sure. Guess I'm over thinking it

Calipers. Take each end cap off if you can. Measure I.d to o.d turn and repeat several times. If it was made poorly you will see it on the calipers. Depending on how bad it is and how much clearance you have with your I.d you will determine if it’s safe to shoot. This is why oversized bore in a can is the way to go. Giving the bullet some clearance per side.

It might has to be clocked. Hand tighten it down. Since you've already checked run out there. Loosen the suppressor by a 1/4 turn. Measure run out again. If it's a not centered. Do another 1/4 turn. Re-check it. You should only have to do three 1/4 turns to see if it's actually out of alignment. At one of the 1/4 turns, It'll be straight with the bore. Depending on where you find it. Shim to that 'clocked' position.

I can measure the same spot 3 times and get 3 different measurements haha. I'll check it tonight. It's a .30 can on a 5.56 there's room it just makes me nervous.

If I just poke the end of the rod through it looks off, if I push about a foot out it looks better. I'll post pictures tonight

0.038 per side for error. I would think it’s gotta have serious issues to hit a baffle

    How long is it?

You're probably over-thinking it. When they are bad, they're real bad. You can visually see it looking through the breech end. 30 cal can on a 5.56... that would be a very, very, very bad barrel to get a strike.

    10.5 barrel with a 8ish" can(sandman Ti)
If your can was constructed with the baffles pressed in and welded or threaded and welded I wouldn’t worry. I would worry about taper if your I.D. Was bored with a tail stock by a drunk With a drill bit and from end to end you get funky measurements (Somewhere a machinist on this board will chuckle). I’m sure your can is fine. Even if a manufacturer did option b via lathe, I can’t see someone not using a threw coolant boring tool or an operator not making his I.d. Work one of the first operations.

Measuring groove to outside threads it's 1.345-1.390.

Down the bore shots are hard...

I will say my cleaning rod has play in it, I think may have been given a undersized rod(heh...)

Mono core welded into the tube I believe.

    Lol.

On a serious note what manufacturer is it? How are you using that rod to get a reliable idea of taper? If you had a little lathe you could make a threaded plug with a little bore for that rod to sit in. But you see my point? Unless we’re using some kind of datum, we won’t really see what’s going on with a visual gauge.

Dewey rod. Yeah I don't have any fancy tools to do all that unfortunately.

Might be regretting this barrel purchase.

Well if you’re really worried about it don’t shoot it. I’m sure others on here will chime in with something I haven’t thought of. Some smart folks on here.

I sent an email to Deadair, I'm just not sure how close is too close. There's definitely room, but not sure.

Deadair has one of the best warranties in the game. If they say run it I would set all fear asside.

Now if only my superlative arms bleedoff gas block would arrive. Last part I'm lacking.

Decided to just send it back to the manufacturer, don't know when my gas block will be here so I'm waiting either way.

Guy I ordered that from is about to loose some cash when I disputes the charge if something don't happen.
