The magazines seems to be reduced capacity, 10rd. This is unexpected, wonder if it was originally brought from some other state

Not necessarily. If it was manufactured in 1994, after Sep 13 of that year, the reduced capacity magazines were probably a result of the 1994 "assault weapons ban."
I also bought a P85 as my first gun in 1994. I gave it to my son, but traded him a G26 to get it back. Mine is stainless and I added a Hogue slip on grip.The P85 was a good gun (albeit heavy) but even better was it's "back-up" capabilities, if you ran out of ammo, those old Ruger P80 series guns were built like sledge hammers!
