Nice to hear that I am not the only one that gets the felons or the " I just want to wound someone" customers. The ones I really hate to see, are the ones that tell the bleeding hearts that anything smaller than a .40 cal or 30-06 won't kill anything, just wound it.

In Oregon got a lot of that at shows. A lot of folks simply have not shot animals. Many just listen to YouTube vs go hunting and critter popping. In that state you can hunt with a 22 cal so hunting with an ar15 or mini14 is pretty normal. From time to time people would not take a 223, 5.56x45, or a 22-250 seriously. Nope trust me sir, it will kill within it’s intended use.

    I appreciate it, SON.

I'll edit the picture into this post if I can find it.

Speaking of .22 cal, I asked at Wal-Mart, (just to get an idea of cost, and I can't read the boxes from 6' away) how much a box of hollowpoints was and the guy pointed at a box of. 22WMR.....

Anyway, while I'm thinking about it, what's a good .22 LR cartridge for a self-defense round.

There have been .22 WMR loads touted as designed for self defense but I can't think of anyone who markets their .22 LR for that purpose.

I wonder when they changed to allow .22 caliber for deer in Oregon? I know it used to not be legal.

Well....based on this thread, I need to stop hanging around gun store employees and gun store customers to avoid getting bad advice...

Not a wrong conclusion. Reading Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting, Boston's Gun Bible and anything written by Jeff Cooper would be a better use of your time ;)

I had a really positive experience with a guy behind the counter at a ranch-themed store who seems very knowledgeable, lets me handle as many guns as I want, and never makes me feel pressured to buy. It's such a nice thing when you get good customer service.
I have had one negative experience, but I thought I'd share this one instead. (I'm very new to guns despite my age, and so far I haven't had enough dough to buy my own yet, but I'm hoping to have a decent collection someday!)

The amount of people who believe their being Leo/mil or someone they know being Leo/mil makes them firearms Gods is also annoying.

I've met SEALs, Rangers, (whatever true badass here) they NEVER act like that. Marcus luttrell is real down to earth he just acts like some random guy who likes guns, however Private POG from Motorpool was the guy the movie Shooter was based on.

Oh, man, ain't that the truth!!

I was with a friend who fought in Vietnam (Big Red 1) and was there during the infamous Tet Offensive. We ran into one of those "experts" and when he said he was in 'Nam, my friend asked where. "Saigon support. Toughest assignment in the country!" My friend just walked away.
