Don’t know if this exactly fits under the gadgetry topic or not. Can someone give me a one minute university degree in emojis (ah la, Father Guido Sarducci).

1). For instance (as related to forums), using my Apple products, there’s a great selection of emojis - most of which don’t display here (in the postings). Why is that?

    2) I downloaded from the net, a nice selection of “Texas” specific emojis: Texas flags, boots, cowboy hats and other things Texan. Turns out, I can’t get them to display either, on the various forums. (However they work ok in my emails to friends & family).

    3) What makes them work or not work?

Please excuse my ignorance of this stuff but I’m inherently NOT a “computer guy”. And when I first started using computers, they didn’t even have these little things!

Thanks Southpaw, that was a helpful article in explaining the cause of the issue I’m seeing (or not seeing, as the case may be).

If I comprehend the jest of that article correctly, there doesn’t seem to really be anything I can do to “fix” the problem. Other than just trying to insure I’m using the latest software version and the forum (or other recipients) are using latest software versions, there’s very little that can be done. And obviously I don’t control or have any say in the software version the forum uses.

So, I guess it’s just something I’ll have to learn to live with. In the overall scheme of things, it’s just a minor annoyance anyway. Just thought with today’s sophisticated compatibility between different platforms, that sort of thing would have been worked out.

Thanks for your help in allowing me to understand the limitations.

There are websites you can bookmark that have tons of emojis you can use. I would give you the one I have been using but I guess it's gone now.

Anyway, they have HTML codes for them all so you just copy/paste that.

There’s also a list of the ones in this forum here somewhere, but I haven’t seen it since the software transition.
