If he wants to be re-elected he needs to stay of Twitter. Also, the sunset tax breaks for the middle-class is not going to do him any favors. I suspect based on those two things, he is a one term president.

That tax sunsets on an election year. It will be renewed and if any side pushes to let it sunset they will be crushed in the following election.

Ask yourself, who is the party that loves to raise taxes?

    Me?

Trump has been good for me personally.

I, like a number of people here, are rising above what's good for "Me".
I've reached a point in life that I don't vote a single issue (like guns) nor do I vote for what is self serving.

I'll vote for who is an intellectual leader and who is best for this country.
Trump isn't it. Hillary wasn't either.

Trump is an immoral, narcissistic, bigoted man.
I put morality high on my required qualifications.
Any guy that is banging a porn star (I can't eat mushrooms anytime soon) while his wife is breastfeeding their infant son is irredeemable.

What bothers me, as a bedrock issue, is that he's just not very bright.

Trump isn't even close to being Ted Cruz' intellectual equal so he resorted to the schoolyard bully tactic of demeaning name calling. What ever happened to old "Lyin' Ted" Cruz, anyway?
Our president's 7th grade mental capacity! Great.

Put Pence in the Oval Office. I was a Cruz supporter over Hillary and Trump.
I've not altered my attitude one iota.

By every measure, Trump has been good for the country. If you were truly “rising above what’s good for you” you would see that.

But many who are claiming to do exactly what you say are harming the country by encouraging division; collectivism, and identity politics.

I was for Ted Cruz in the primaries. When the general election came I chose to rise above what was good for me and backed Trump. Ted Cruz chose to rise above all the mud slinging of the elections and has worked side by side with Trump to make the country better. And Trump has made the country BETTER.

If you want to rise above your own interest, you should not be encouraging division and spreading MSM gossip stories. Let it go. Look at the state of the nation. Look at the numbers. And accept that for all of his faults he has done well in getting the nation back on track. And he has done so while working against a massive tide of slander and misinformation from almost every major media outlet.

The country voted and chose Trump, not Cruz. Rise above your own ambitions and pride. With Trump as president we have seen wonderful gains all the while a large portion of our government, populace, and the majority of media have worked to stop everything he’s done and have him removed from office. Imagine what he could do without the childish tantrums from those who are selfishly kicking and screaming as everything around them improves.

Sorry, I just don’t buy the “I’m being selfless” line. Nor do I believe that being an intellectual is any sort of measuring stick for worthiness of the office. Some intellectuals would do well, others would be utterly horrible. I’ve known farmers who’ve had minimal schooling yet were far smarter than many of these so called “intellectuals”.

You say Trump is a bully. To a degree, he is. But for the most part he bullies people who are treating everyone around them like shit. He bullies people who feel they can silence anyone and win any argument by spewing accusations of racism and splitting everyone in to a group based on race, sex, religious belief, orientation, etc. When the average American is getting beaten down by this crap at every turn you need someone who can walk right through the waves of crap and knock them down. I like Cruz. I’d still vote for him if he runs in 2024. But he would not have stood in this way.

So when you decide to point out flaws in Trump, I ask that you do so using examples of policies his administration has enacted and the effects they have had. Give real numbers, not vague references to “some people”. Otherwise, it’s just a personal beef with someone that has no real bearing on the job they have done. Argue from that intellectual standpoint you revere.

Not every President needs to serve 2 terms. Maybe he'll shake up the Status quo enough that his replacement can get in office without running under a paticular party line and get even more done.

This government needs a serious overhaul. I love this Country and respect any man that holds office but, might as well Tweet. I would , if I was into that. I don't mince words and neither does Trump.

Trump is not a stupid man. You don't get rich by being stupid. He's not an Obama or Beto slivered tonque devil. I just think he could do even more, but I'm not sure exactly what he's up to yet.

I wish he would tweet less. It distracts from the good he has done.

Actually, this is the first time I didn't vote and I am registered Republican. The sunset thing irritated me. The thing about Government is the top takes care of the top by taxing the middle class, and the bottom takes care of the bottom by taxing the Middle Class. We are the honey hole for both Republicans and Democrats.

With this bill it is has been re-oriented back to the middle class as the money hole for both the rich and poor. I liked the bill except the sunset on tax breaks for the Middle Class. If they had not included that, I would agree with you. The very fact that they sunset it, means they know full well the Middle Class pays for pretty much everything. Bernie Sanders pays less taxes than his secretary.

I am a results guy. Where is the wall? Why send reservist army to the Border who cannot do anything due to Posse Comitatus. You could send the Marines. That doesn't apply to them.

I view the “how pays too much” argument as more identity politics. We bitch about who’s paying what and it distracts from the real issue of spending.

That said, the new tax bill still puts our corporate tax rate higher than many European nations that most would say have outrageous tax rate. The bill lowered the corporate tax rate but the bulk of taxes will still be paid by a minority of earners.

It can be argued that for them the income is disposable, but that isn’t a moral argument. It’s an argument that it’s more ok to steal from those who are well off. It doesn’t matter that those well off people are often employing thousands. It doesn’t matter how much of the bill those few are footing. Just as the left will spin things so the lower class can easily have animosity for the middle class. Someone will spin the middle class to have animosity towards the upper class.

When you look at the numbers we are getting screwed by outrageous spending. If you want lower taxes you should be arguing for decreased spending, not increased taxes on somebody else. And as I’ve said in another post, the sunset was scheduled in a way that guarantees the cuts are renewed. Taxes will not be increased in an election year.

The wall is being constructed as we speak. A fence actually, but I never expected a brick wall, or Sheetrock. A sturdy fence will serve the same purpose.

Ask border patrol if the appreciated any help received from activated reservists. If the answer is yes, then it was helpful.

Results: lower taxes, immigration laws being enforced, economy growing, unemployment dropping, wages rising.

Not me. The fact that he can circumvent the MSM to get his message out is a win for us all.....

.....now, if he would start revoking some press passes, I'd really get giddy.

    You’re right about that.

I’ll rephrase. I wish he would tweet about the good stuff he’s done instead of taking the bait every time some snowflake says a mean thing about him.

But, I’ll take him as he is and consider it a package deal.

Admittedly, I was heavily apposed to him in the primaries. Didn’t trust him one bit to stand up for any of our rights. Backed him when he won the nomination and so far he has given me no reason to regret giving him my vote. The thread title is accurate, but who knows what “republican” even means anymore. If he keeps doing what he’s doing he will have my vote again come 2020.

For about 3 decades I have voted republican and used to call myself republican. I consider myself constitutionalist libertarian, but also being a realist I vote republican, because it's the closest to what I believe and has a real chance of winning. The alternative would be to not vote and possibly give the democrats and socialists more ground, and that has been and will be far from what I believe.

From what I've seen of Trump is that he may be closer to a libertarian than republican and he has certainly, so far, respected the Constitution.

If you don't vote you don't have a dog in this fight. Sometimes it's voting for the lesser of 2 evils but I still vote. Years ago I voted for Perot for example, another businessman who had America first so Trump was easy.

There ya go.... Perot should have run Republican. 15377308263130.jpg

Oops, those might be Nike's in the background ....sorry, not really sure what Tiger is wearing today.
