    It was immensely fun.
He had keys to pretty much every gate on the King Ranch down around Kingsville area, with permission to basically use at will.
He took me shooting all the time.

Well now I'm jealous...but still wishing for a story of you killing a deer that was in the vehicle with you.

Had a guy today telling me how unsafe Glocks are. People don't realize a safety don't fix stupid.

If I'm going to pull a trigger on accident who says I can't leave a safety off and still do it. He claimed he knew multiple people who shot themselves with Glocks supposedly, I told him they must be idiots then thousands upon thousands go their whole lives carrying a glock not shooting themselves.

Never hear about all the folks shooting themselves with smith and wessons with the same design.

It's simple, keep your booger hook off the bang switch. Also if you don't like a particular firearm you don't have to needlessly go around telling everyone(same with feeling the need to rave about your favorite to every person you meet)

I personally know 2 people who have shot themselves with Glocks. But it had nothing to do with lack of a mechanical safety. It was because you have to pull the trigger to take them apart.

One popular argument against Glocks has been their inability to be carried without a holster that covers the trigger guard (i.e. Mexican Carry). With very few exceptions, I don't think ANY pistol should be carried without a holster that covers the trigger guard.

There's always the option of Advanced Mexican Carry, i.e. with a sticky pocket holster.

Was in sniffing around in Cabelas as one might do.

At the time they had a Bushmaster .50 BMG on the counter. It was mostly eye candy and didn’t sell for a while. One day as I browse along looking at the selection I hear an employee and customer discussing it.

The customer was probably pretty typical. Interested in something not often seen.

The employee was telling him all the cool facts about the .50 BMG round. A near miss will kill just from the shockwave. The muzzle blast can knock you unconscious. Gonna kick like a mule on steroids.

Customer: could you imagine deer hunting with that?

Employee: oh, the deer would just explode. There’d be nothing left

I decided not to get involved that day. A week or so later while browsing the counter guy pointed the rifle out to me. I guess he enjoyed wowing the customers. This lead to a few minutes of him saying “This rifle will (insert crazy claim)” follow by me saying “actually, that’s not true at all”

I was polite. He didn’t get pissy. Hopefully he stopped spreading hyped up stories.

I also know of two people having NDs with Glocks.

First was a police officer. I think it was a Huntsville or SHSU police officer. He actually shot his girlfriend. I think it happened around 2011 or 2012.

Second was a guy I went to high school with. He went out and bought a G17 for his 21st birthday. He was on the phone while disassembling the pistol and shot a hole right through his calf. Luckily he had it loaded with FMJ. He made sure to share that on facebook and give a little PSA about paying attention.

I'm almost afraid to ask what happened to the girlfriend...

I just looked up the story. Happened in 2015. Says she was shot in the back. Apparently she fully recovered. The story doesn't mention the brand of gun, only the caliber (9mm) but I distinctly remember the story being posted on facebook and saying it was a Glock. But being 3yrs ago, who knows.
