    THE LONGEST DAY,
    GODS & GENERALS,
    SAVING PRIVATE RYAN,
    LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA
    FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS
    &
ALL of John Wayne's war movies..

Note: One of my uncles made ALL the division level jumps that the 82nd ABN made in WWII.
Mother's elder brother went ashore at Iwo Jima with the Naval landing party & was twice wounded there.
My father flew bombing missions in support of the Normandy Invasion in a USAAC B17.

Lots and lots of good movies mentioned here. Here is my top 5 listed by the time frame the movie was set in:

The Last of the Mohicans (the French & Indian War)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_and_Indian_War

    Gallipoli (WW1)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallipoli_Campaign

    Lawrence of Arabia (WW 1)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._E._Lawrence

    Patton (WW2)

    Saving Private Ryan (WW2)

    Apocalypse Now (Vietnam)

    Platoon (Vietnam)

Yeah, that is 6 and the smallest number I could get the list down to. I pick each because they were, IMO, groundbreaking when they came out. Had to add Patton to the list. Now I am up to 7.

Black Hawk Down (Battle of Mogadishu)

And also had to add Black Hawk Down, now at 8. Sorry, just can't get it lower.

After seeing many movies mentioned here I'm not really sure which really would be my top 5. I remembered lately that I really liked watching Anzio, that I was able to see at the theater when I was young.
