I have a hard time legalizing pot but not other drugs. Smacks of the Hughes amendment. I've never used any drugs.

I'm not Libertarian but I lean that way, before they got so weird.

Is it legitimate for government to decide what we eat, drink, or smoke? How does the government decide? How do we keep them in check?

If keeping meth & crack illegal decreases their use I guess I'm for it. I'm just not convinced the law is what keeps people from using hard drugs.

Just look at Colorado if you want a reason to not legalize marijuana

Emergency rooms full of people who eat MJ laced foods and OD
1000s of shiftless pot heads moved in from the left coast to live the dream and got on all sorts of Colorado welfare programs
It has cost that state a crap ton of money in handouts and unpaid medical

The money from the taxes dont offset the cost to the public

That's not what the man said - he didn't qualify being under the influence - just said "smoke pot" like they sometimes smoke pot or... ? And I totally agree - one should never take up a firearm when drinking or high. Though, I bet we've all seen people do it.
Certainly I've seen it, I was one. I'm also glad that with age came a bit more knowledge and wisdom.

A classic agreement folks have about pot is keeping users out of prison or jail. Those beds should be reserved for people who do real crimes.

As i said in a previous post, there is proof that harder drugs alter the mind for the worse. I’m simply ok throwing meth users in jail to prevent people’s shit from getting stolen or keeping me up at 3am rebuilding an engine for the 4th time with used gaskets and fasteners.

I joined the Navy on December 7th, 1974. I went in as an E-1. When I was discharged in 1977, I was an E-4. Petty Officer Third Class. Spent a LOT of time underway.. Subic Bay in the Phillipines, Okinawa, Djakarta, Hong Kong, Sasabo, and, I crossed the Equator two times. I'm also a SHELL BACK. I was, what they called a Hole Snipe. I worked in the engine/boiler room. It was a great experience and I'll never forget it.

The last time I smoked pot was 1973. And even then I smoked it maybe 5 times. I never enjoyed it to be honest with ya.
I had a job interviewee respond like that. In answer to a standard question "Do you/have you smoke(d) pot?" He answered yeah he'd tried it. Follow up: "how often?" answered "probably a dozen times but I decided I didn't like it".

I’m a retired Navy Chief, a Golden Shellback, and I was EOOW on steam, diesel, and gas turbine plants with 16 years sea duty. I like to say I’ve been around the world twice to a county fair and a goat roping.

Depending upon where you went in the world, that may have just been foreplay ...
