Wait, what? You mean you didn't have the groovy 8 Track, lol. Remember cruising along listening to Bachman Overdrive and all of a sudden, the freaking 8 track ate it, lol.

1981 Chevy 2wd LWB with a straight 6. It was a turd but I wouldn’t trade the summer my dad and uncle spent with me fixing it up.

Drove the wheels off that thing - all the way through high school & college. The automatic transmission is what finally gave out. It handled everything a teenage boy could throw at it!

    A pedal car.

Actually , a 1963 Ford Falcon station wagon. Little old worn out 6 cylinder. Took a little while to get there, but it could hit 115 mph.

One rainy night, I was going about 40 mph when a pick-up pulled out right in front of me. In microseconds I calculated any possible way to avoid it, but there just weren't any good options, so I just braked. A 63 brake system on a wet highway, just didn't make much difference.

It felt like someone hit me in the face with a baseball bat. I must have gotten knocked out for a minute or two, and when I opened my eyes I saw headlights heading towards me. I had T-boned the pickup dead center. My car couldn't have went 3'. It was turned around 180°.
I got out and tried to push my car out of the way of traffic and someone helped me. It pretty much wound up where he had come from.

When the wrecker driver came he said they had pulled dead people out of better looking wrecks. My neck got really messed up, because the right side of my chin hit the steering wheel and then the top of my head went into the curve of the left side of the windshield and broke it. I didn't know it until the next day, but my right hand took out a couple of those old bakelite and steel rod knobs. Other than my chin being torn open, I didn't know anything was wrong with me.

I was really sore the next day, but my neck was what really bothered me for a long time. Still does. Anyway, there's a moral to this story.

I always kept the back seat down. I had changed a tire and it was just sitting in the back. I had given 2 people a ride. Strangers IIRC, so the back seat was up to do that. That back seat had a steel back and it was bent like a horseshoe. Had it been down, I would have suffered a broken back, or worse.

Only car I ever totaled or even hurt bad. That was the end of the Falcon.

'55 Chevy 2 door coupe. IIRC, it was 1965 when I bought it from the guy who worked at the gas station. Paid $350 for it. Sounds cheap, but that's about $2800 in today's money.

He had swapped out the original motor with a 283 4 barrel. He said it was from a '58 Vette. The original Power Glide tranny had been replaced with a 3 speed manual floor shift.
