Is the Alamo they shot the movie at still standing out by Brackettville?

Yes, it's still there but closed to the public as the ranch is for sale. After Happy Shahan and his wife died, no one was maintaining the ranch and the son has it on the market. You can still see the Alamo from the road but the gates are locked. My friend's ranch is right down the road so I pass the Shahan ranch getting there.

Last time we visited there people weren’t taking their hats off in respect (which there was a sign asking people to do) and my husband had to get all up in some ass to draw attention to it.

In remembering this, I asked him to help me recall the details and he just told me, “don’t even get me started on PEOPLE. You know I’m not a fan.”

We should probably not go out in public much anymore honestly.

The sheer number of “you think people really want to see your underwear?” (saggy pants) comments alone that I’ve been a party to over the years should tell me that.

I believe San Antonio is still decent. Not like parts of Austin.

“You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.” Davy Crockett said this angrily after losing his Tennessee bid for the U.S. Congress.

I think he really said, “Y’all can go to hell,” but grammatical purity likely corrupted the original transcription.

I did boot camp at Lackland AFB, San Antonio in 1961. The River Walk was off limits because of the crime centered there. It has changed a lot since then and is a pleasant place to visit. A major attraction close to the Alamo.

Sounds like a guy I would like to hang out with.

Just for grins, I would fake turrets in the mall to see folks acting like they weren't looking, drove my wife crazy, so, consider yourself lucky you didn't marry me.

( Just to clarify, though, one of my favorite aunts had severe scoliosis, and that looking without looking shit pissed me off to no end, my little contribution to payback .)

He’s a passionate guy which is attractive when it’s directed towards some things like how he feels about wifey and also fatherhood. Can get us in trouble if he’s not remembering to walk away from a negative situation (which maybe he’s really stirred up in the first place).

It is a monument to heroes. Some of us had relatives die there. Several movies about it. ALL good to watch. If you have not been there then you better go before they either rewrite the history or turn it into an amusement park.

BTW Sant Anna later became an ally to the US. BUT that is another story.

That's not what his girlfriend told me.....OOPS!!!! Wasn't supposed to tell. JK.
He's sounding more like me by the minute. If I were just 10 years younger, I'd be pulling them damn pants up for them.

Last time we went to the Alamo we received an ad for a walking tour that started at the Alamo at 9 PM. We went and had a great time hearing the stories and seeing the places. The guide used a laser to point out the sights. He shined it on a hotel where somebody died and said that people still see weird things in the room he pointed to.I said yea like every night at 9:30 a strange red light appears on the ceiling shakes around and goes away. He didn't want to talk to me anymore.
Last time We stopped in to Lackland they (the guards) would not let us go in to the museum or the static aircraft displays. Said there was a war on. I said yea and your B57 display is a state of the art airplane on a stick. He suggested we visit the Alamo. Haven't been back in a long long time. Eff San Antonio.
