    Gunz are icky.
One theater of war that needs a good movie made is the war in German East Africa during WW1.
A small German force led the British on a hellish chase for four years and was never defeated.
One of the truly great feats of guerrilla warfare.

I just re-read this thread because of the new war movies thread, and I’m disappointed. I didn’t see “In Harms Way” mentioned. My absolute favorite.

I am surprised that "The Pacific" was not mentioned more than it was. I've read Robert Leckie's "Helmet for my Pillow" and E.B. Sledge's "With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa", of which most of the series is based. HBO did a pretty good job following the books. I am also glad someone finally mentioned Black Hawk Down. I remember the footage they played on the news of the dead airman being dragged through the streets of that African shithole by a bunch of backward f**kers. I was 13 and it shocked me to the point that I still remember it.

On a related topic: "Masters of the Air" (or some title like it) has been teased for years. Hanks and Spielberg have been dropping little hints here and there but it is unclear if it is ever going to be made. I hope they do.

I just looked it up again. Looks like they are filming now. HBO declined to make it. Apple+ took over. I'm a little disappointed because I hate Apple but we'll see.
