Took the new Savage Stealth Evolution in 6mm Creedmoor for a little range time since I had other guns to shoot.

All I had handy and free was a Leupold 1.25-4x scope so I mounted it up. I am getting a new scope for it so I didn't want to tear one off another gun.

I also plan on working up my own loads but factory Hornady ammo was handy so I went with it.

Given the limitations of a low power scope with a thick reticle and factory offerings I think it shows real promise.

5@100 yards and I fully expect it to get much better.

Looks good. What ammo are you using? I got a smoking deal on a ruger precision in 6mm CM that should be here tomorrow. I am planning on shooting some factory stuff through it first.

22 creed at 942yds. Group on the left is after 400rds no cleaning. Had just pulled my 6 creed barrel off so I didn't notice an initial elevation change until I ran it out at distance and was .6mil high. I guessed it was possibly a carbon ring so I scrubbed all of the carbon from the tube and re-zeroed. Shot the 6rd group on the right after with much better results.

What kind of steel is that and what distance do you shoot mostly? It looks like you are putting pretty deap dings in the steel.

It's just a sheet of 3/16th. Works fine for 99% of the rounds we shoot at 942yds. I use it for load development primarily and have small steel for general shooting. Only round I've had go through it is my 6 creed with 115gr dtac at 3070fps which has trued out to a .320g7 bc so it retains enough velocity to overcome the steel. Won't shoot it any closer than 942yds as most will go through it easily.

You will be happy with the 103gr ELDX and the 108gr ELDM ammo.

Both shot well enough for me. That group is with the ELDX ammo.

A few more groups from the Evolution in 6mm CM shot at the Family Reunion Meet yesterday.

    5@100 Hornady factory ammo again.

Hastily mounted (and crooked) 12x SWFA scope used this time.

I know one shot in one group was a flier. Can't say for sure (but suspect) the other is too.

Ready to see what some handloading will do.

Why do you always cover one of your shots with a coin?

    Sometimes a few of them.....

That little guy? Don't worry about that little guy.

Actually to use Range Buddy properly you have to set the scale so it measures properly. A coin of known dimension works very well.

Plus I like to show off my money.

    And shut your whore mouth.

You need one more coin before you can put in your two cents.

First round of handload testing with the Savage Stealth Evolution in 6mm Creedmoor.

Lapua cases, Hornady 108gr ELD-M bullets, CCI SR Match primers and H4350.

I wasn't shooting well enough to get definitive answers but it shot very well. I did get a couple hints on what is working and what needs attention with the rifle though.

    5@100 yards

Give rl23 a try if you don't get satisfied with h4350 or run into availability issues. I've killed a couple barrels with it and love it.
