I like the 1911. And because of budget concerns, until recently so did the USMC. Now, since SEALs and USMC usually pound foreign ground before rest of the regular troops, there is a reason the USMC kept the 1911 until they were forced to get the Sig M17, like every swinging dick in the military. Whatever the Military uses, you know CBP and ICE are going to use. I purchased one, as my son wants to have a career in the Military and he might as well embrace the suck now.

I like my Springfield Armory, because well, it has all the bells and whistles I want on my Loaded MC Operator. For looks, the tu-tone Kimber's are pretty. For reputation, I like Colts. I was never a fan of Dan Wesson's break off revolvers, so I haven't gotten giddy about getting one in 1911. Sig has some interesting choices though.

Frog Lube. On 1911 and everything else that goes bang. Very thin amount. Never had any malfunction on my STI 1911 of any kind or on anything else i shoot. EVER since using FL.

I've used Frog Lube on a number of guns. It works very well as long as you follow the instructions and don't over apply it.

I heard some horror stories about Frog Lube. As long as you keep your weapons clean, there shouldn't be a malfunction.
I've read quite a few horror stories as well. I wanted to make sure I could rely on it, so what I did was to take the same gun and lube it correctly. Tested how it operated (everything was great), then over-frog lubed it and it felt like crap. Put it in the fridge and it felt like the slide was lubricated with molasses. Bottom line: stuff works great, just don't overdo it.

Yeah, I am good with some regular cleaning oil like I have used on the Glocks I have carried over the years. Though, the Glocks have been diminishing in favor of HK's these days. Replaced all my .40 Glocks with a Stainless USP .40. Though, .45's I can't get enough off. 1911's, Glocks, HK's, 230 grains of happiness.

I tried it for a while. I am back on hopes oil and rem oil. Frog lube was/is great for long term storage. From a sample of two rifles and a pistol that are still coated after 3 years and have no rust.

    Hello,

    If it slides, grease.

    If it pivots, oil.

I've been playing with using Lucas Motor Assembly Lube for all. It works nicely and is really overkill, which I like.

I use it on rifle bolts, too. Slicks up Mosin bolts nicely.

    Regards,
    Josh
