Hey everyone, I'm thinking of adding some variety to my collection, been a glock, XD, Ruger, Sig guy forever, had a HK while ago, second gun I ever bought actually. But it was more than 15 years ago. I want to get something, but there are so many models I'm confused.

I prefer, like Xdm's 3.8, Glock 19 Size pistol sizes ( compact) for range use. Full Size, not really a fan of. A carry a P938, but thats too small. So I've had my eye on a HK P30sk, alot, but looks like I have seen a VP9 in the same size, what model do I lean towards?

    thoughts?

Do you want a hammer, or strike fired?

Either one of those will fit in a G19 holster.
    I have all 3, so I'm sure.
Even my Walther Navy will use the same holster.

My XDm is full sized, I don't carry it.

I prefer striker, but the Beretta have my eye on is a hammer, and most Sigs I see are hammer, it'll be a range gun, so getting used to it will be easy.

I like HK's a lot. I have two .45C stainless slides, and a .40 USP with a stainless slide. I like that I can carry them cocked and locked like a 1911. I wish they had an MK25 in stainless. I have only collected HK's with stainless slides so far. My wife shoots the .45C, but she is a belly band girl, and refuses to wear a belt with a holster. So, the double action pull throws her off trying to get that first shot off.

My first real handgun was a .40 USP... Paid 400 bucks for it...should have kept it...even though I don't shoot .40...

If you like the small HK, then you have your choice between the VP9SK and the P30SK (and P2000SK). The former is striker-fired and both of the latter are hammer-fired. All three use the same magazines and are superlative firearms. You decide.

EDIT: The P2000SK has a selection of different backstraps to custom fit to the user's hand. Better than that, both the VP9SK and P30SK have the different backstraps AND different grip panels to even further customize the size to the user's hand. I have both the P2000SK and VP9SK.

You've mentioned the stainless slides quite often recently. What draws you to them?

Look at the Walther PPQ. I'm a lefty & love it.
The M1 has the paddle release that KA is talking about for the mags.
The M2 has a button release which can be moved to the left side. I have the M2 version.

I have a VP40 as well, this is the .40 version of the VP9.

    Both great guns.

HK P30sk ... why? I really prefer a hammer, nuff said.

The wife prefers compact, and being able to pull the hammer back in single action mode rather than what she considers a hard first double action, and compact. And she is left handed. So far I am lost. I offered her my HK .40 USP, but she said in a belly band it rubbed against her thigh. So, with her, I am as lost as last year's Easter Egg.

I am a lefty and I like the VP9 and P30 models better than a comparable Glock (of which I own and shoot many). I have a VP9, VP9sk and a P30sk. They are all a pleasure to shoot and the manual of arms makes perfect sense for my lefty brain and dexterity.
