Alright 1911 guys, help me buy my next gun. I’ve owned 1911s before, so No worries there. Looking at bobtail commanders

Kimber Master Carry Pro or Dan Wesson ECP, Guardian, or Commander Classic.

I know Kimber has some QC issues before, but I shot a new one recently and it was flawless.

    DW is hard to find.

Don't over look Smith and Wesson's version....

Not any better or worse than the others...all comes down to your personal preference....

Handle as many different brands as you can get your hands on....you'll know when you have the right one in your hand...

Yeah, I’ve shot easy riders PC1911 and like it a lot as well.

    I know where I can pick up a used PC1911 for $1099.

I did a lot of research before going with that PC1911. Not to put down any that you mentioned, but at the price range I don't think you can find one that is closer to custom. The Dan Wessons I looked at were around twice the price. All I believe are good choices, just comes down to what you are looking for in a 1911.

The Sig Emperor Scorpion 1911 looks really nice...

    https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/mobile/product/94593/

Haven't shot any of them yet, but would definately pick one up if I didn't already have the older model Scorpion 1911 (which runs great assuming it gets cleaned properly)...

ETA: just re-read OP and realized looking for different profile, so preceding recommendation is likely not relevant....my bad.

What about DW at the price point makes it a better choice than either the Kimber or PC1911?

Sorry, I am not a good person to give recommendations on 1911s.
Being a lefty, I had issues with jams for the longest time, finally discovered that I was pushing the slide release button on the right side. I have to be conscious of this every time I shoot them.
I have 3, but hardly ever shoot them.
I have a Kimber CDP PRO, it is the 1911 I shoot most.
The third is a Les Baer Ultimate Recon.
They all pretty much just live in the safe.

    I’ve got a CBOB in 45.
    Fantastic gun.

DW gun’s are machined to tight tolerances, zero rattle.

It’s a quality gun that can reasonably hold its own when you hold one up to a full-custom 1911.

But they also run well without the break-in a lot of folks report for other 1911’s machined to tight tolerances.

I’ve handled a few DW blems and was unable to find the blem.

I haven't owned a Dan Wesson, but I have certainly handled a few, and had they have been in my price range at the time they certainly would have been considered at the time I bought my S&W. They are tightly fit and looked and felt good in my hand, but I couldn't see that they are built any better than my S&W. I will say that all the Colts I compared had a lot less tightness to them. I have nothing bad to say about the Dan Wessons other than the price, but then of course they are cheaper than a Baer or Brown.
