For the two or three of you who still have a landline phone, do you use a add-on call blocker? Can anyone recommend one? Any to avoid? I'm considering
    Digitone Proseries Blocker.

It has good reviews on Amazon (but is currently not available on Amazon). Another "common" brand is CPR but a few bad reviews there.

If your "landline" is via the internet and you use Spectrum, sign on to your account and go to the phone service and you will find multiple ways to block calls. I have not found anything yet that will stop "spoofed" calls as you don't know what the real number is.

I have been using the Digit One call blocker for 6 years or so. Upgraded to the Pro series about 2 years ago. It does a good job of blocking unwanted calls. It hasn't let any through that I have programmed into it yet.

You can block by individual number, area code and exchange, or entire area codes. The best feature for me is blocking by name. With that feature you can block all of the Out of Area, Not Provided, and Unassigned calls which make up about 90% of the unwanted calls I get.

That is a darn good price at Walmart. I paid $100 for mine direct from Digit One. Well worth it tho.

I pay like $2 extra a month to the phone company for a service that blocks all anonymous and “out of area” calls.
Spectrum (internet) does it for free. My biggest problem is spoofs of legit phone numbers, since the call doesn't originate from that number.

Thanks for the review. I've since read the online manual for the Digitone Pro & it's complicated as Chinese 'rithmetic.

Yer right about that. It looks complicated, but if all you want to do is block specific numbers or area codes, it's not all that bad. All you need to read is the last paragraph on page 3, the first paragraph on page 4, and the last two paragraphs on page 6. Then you can get in to all that other stuff if you need to, but probably not.

BTW, it's $69.99 at digitone.com, free shipping. But Firefox keeps telling me the site is not secure.

I just buy Panasonic wireless phones that come with call block feature. Works fine for me without 3rd party or provider services. This way I can screen the calls myself before I add to the block list. I buy my phone's at Sam's Club

The primary cordless phone it is connected to does not ring, but the extension phone in the other room rings once.
