Thinking about buying a tac14 from PSA.
I already have a 870, so operationally there's nothing to learn.

The shockwave holds 1 more shell, but I can get a +1 on the Tac14

Any reason NOT to get the tac14 over the shockwave?

I'd go with the Tac14. Even if it's rougher out of the box you have more to work with and have tuned up into a very reliable and slick action.

interesting, I had read something saying the Rem was smoother out of the box.

I'm more than likely getting the Rem since it's on sale and I already have a 870

I’m not saying it will be rougher, it’s a just a possibility. There’s only so much you can do with a Mossberg. I am saying there’s no comparison with my tuned Stakeout and a factory Tac14. The margin is even greater comparing the Stakeout to the Mossberg. It all depends on what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend.

We expect pics and a review.
erm... OK. haven't shot in like 18 months. Got a handful of defense weapons that need testing.

As is mine lol. I was able to qualify with mine on our patrol shotgun course, but now it’s just a “shop keeper”. Get the tool to iron out the dimples for your plus one extension. If you have trouble finding one look here https://suarezinternational.com/magazine-tube-extensions/

on my 870 I used a hammer, 3/8 extension, and socket. Fishing it back out was fun.

They gave us Wilson Combat 14 inch barrel Shotguns with ghost rings. Those 870's were fine, but in Laredo they got a lot of sweat from 4 qualifications per year, and no matter how much they were cleaned, they were prone to rust. I found them handy for Sector and Station guard duty after 9/11. I would scenario load the tube. Buckshot for the driver, slug for the engine block. One of the UC vehicles with Juarez plates, thought he would be funny. They always think they are funny until it gets serious. He revved his engine like he was going to charge my position. When I racked a shell from hot standby and pointed it at his head, he decided the fun was over and flashed his red and blues.

Interesting. That probably means Mossberg will do the same thing. The only reason I like Mossberg better than Remington is the location of the safety. Not to say Remington isn't going to come out with something good. I qualified with the Wilson Combat with four in the tube, and one shell in the belt for a combat load timed until 2006. After that, it was not part of the qualification course, but "familiarity" which drove me nuts.

I got the Shockwave in 20 gauge. At $269 shipped it was a no--brainer. I love it. With #2 Buck it is controllable and devastating - holds a decent pattern to about 30 yards.

I have always been an 870 fan, but the Mossberg safety is in the right spot for this application.

I'm going to post again because we gave the Shockwave a workout today. I'm impressed.

    Controllable - with devastating firepower.

We shot 100 rds of birdshot at various ranges. Great for snakes! Also about 25 rds of #1 Buck. Wow! I would feel adequately equipped with this firearm for defensive purposes.

I just picked up a Shockwave in 20 gauge. I wanted a 12 gauge but since I had surgery on my right arm/wrist and it isn't 100% and I am beginning therapy on it next week. I decided on a 20 gauge. Can I carry it in my vehicle without concealing it?
