I just buy Panasonic wireless phones that come with call block feature. Works fine for me without 3rd party or provider services. This way I can screen the calls myself before I add to the block list. I buy my phone's at Sam's Club
We use the Panasonic's number blocking in addition to the Digit One call blocker. It just doesn't have the capacity of the Digit One though. And, it can't block calls by CID name. 95% of the unwanted calls I get are "Out of Area" and "Not Provided". I can block those two "names" on the Digit One, and that blocks all the neighborhood spam calls. Those neighborhood spam calls never repeat the same number and exchange, so they are virtually impossible to block individually.

I'm glad they are coming down in price. I paid $100 for the first Gen one and also the new Pro series one. The new ones are much better anyway. The older models could only block something like 80 numbers and you couldn't block by name.

I think my first one was taken out by an electrical surge during a thunderstorm.

I've had it about a week and I like it! Biggest caution is "don't lose the instruction booklet" - it's a complicated little thing. Supposedly default setting allows the name "Out-Of-Area" to ring if it includes a displayed phone number and blocks OOA if there is no number displayed. Mine blocks both types but I worked around it.

I use the Block by Name feature to block all calls from Out of Area. The majority of my calls are from OOA, but I also get a significant number from Not Provided, and a few from Unassigned. Those, I also block by name. IIRC, you have to receive at least one call from any particular name before you can block it by name.

If you want to find out who is trying to call, or what kind of scam it is, many times you can find info on the number here.
