It seems that the trend going on with 1911's is 9mm. Is it cheaper? You don't often see the .45's moving, no matter what the size. But, the micro 9mm's are going like hot cakes. If it is the caliber, why not a G-19 or an SCCY, or a Ruger LC9. The trend seems to be, yes, I would like that 600.00 Kimber micro. I am just trying to wrap my mind around the surge of 9mm 1911 from the 1911 .45?

I guess the same could be said about. 45, why a 1911 when there are so many options available.

    It's a lot cheaper to shoot, almost half the price of 45. For plinking, it's great, for self defense, I'd prefer .45 . I've got both a .45 and a 9mm 1911.

I've got two. They're very light recoiling, fun plinkers at the range and cheap to feed. I've got a couple in .45 too, but I just don't shoot them as much. Can't give you a good reason why I shoot the 9's more though. I just like them.

I put a Wilson combat barrel bushing on mine, there is virtually no recoil.

N2G hit the nail on the head.

9mm is half price of .45, unless of course you find a good sale.

That is why I carry a Glock 19 for 9mm. I even have a comp on that, along with heavy springs, that has virtually no recoil either. I spent on upgrading everything what a Colt 9mm would cost, except I have a higher capacity and virtually no recoil. Where the red dot goes, the bullet goes. Ceracoated the way I want, RMR, slide cut, Johnny Glock trigger the whole 9 (no pun intended).

Maybe they just prefer 9mm 1911s.

Some people prefer a Sig, some a small .380, some only carry a revolver, and some think a tricked out Glock is best.

Glad we have so many options. Not gonna question why you prefer the trucked out Glock even though I’d never carry something like that. To each their own.

    I've owned a Colt in 9mm.

Never again. It an abomination. 38 Super or 45acp. Never a 9mm. That's what Glock is for.

Funny thing is, Moonpie has a really sweet 9mm 1911 which started life as a .38 Super.

Started life as 38 Super? Then a Nazi round was installed in an iconic American hand gun? Something John Browning would have slapped someone for.

No way in hell on my side of the fence. I'm out on a 1911, 9mm. I also missed out on a whole $200...

    Damn.

I realize to each their own. I am just fascinated by trends that pop up, and why they do. When I was young the gun market didn't have the variety it did. Now, everyone and their mother is making a firearm, so it went from recognition to trends. And the trends confuse me. Everyone used to love .40 and 10mm and fight about that. Hell, it would become an argument in High School. The .40 had just come out so the News reported shootings with it as an odd round.

It's the wave of the 9mm.

    I've still got a Sig P938 I'd like to sell. I consider that a "1911 style" handgun.

All my 1911 pistols are in .45 ACP or 10mm. I've considered adding either a 9mm or .38 Super 1911. The 9mm is definitely cheaper to feed.

Even though I reload the 9mm is less expensive. Brass is free for the picking up. .38 Super I'd have to buy brass.

You and me both. I got one in trade for a shotgun.
