One thing to remember, is that many PCCs don't lock the slide back when the magazine is empty. Be sure to watch for that.

I think that issue is more common with converted SMGs than with modern PCCs. But it is something you have to be aware of and take extra precautions when it comes to safety.

Any modern PCC should lock the bolt open on an empty mag though.

If I’d had a CZ Scorpion Evo way back when I’d never have purchased an Uzi and sbr’ed it. Used to run a MP5 at work; I’d have ditched it for the Scorpion too.

My solution to this question was the MechTech. I already own Glocks in 9mm and 45acp. I went with the 45acp version to be compatible with my silencer.

    http://mechtechsys.com/glock-carbine-conversion/

I have a Glock 21 with a threaded barrel and a MechTech Glock CCU with a Glock 21 lower. I had the barrel threaded on it also. I have various Glock 21 mags from the smallest to 40 round drum mags. I find it does exactly the job you are talking about. I also got the collapsible stock version.

When the Kriss came out with the 10mm, I was hoping they would do what they did with the Glock 21 mag. Lonewolf makes a Glock dedicated 9mm and .40 in AR-15 that uses Glock mags. Rumor is they are eventually going to make a 10mm.

    Gunz are icky.
Help me out on the legal side of the MechTec.
If you swap the Glock lower into the carbine upper it is “legal” correct?
But once converted you can’t swap back right?
Legal to go pistol->rifle but never rifle->pistol correct?

    From their FAQs:

"Is it legal to convert the CCU back to the original pistol?"

"Yes. The BATFE recently published a ruling which clarifies this – here is the link: https://www.atf.gov/file/55526/download. There has been a lot of missinformation [sic] circulating to the effect that once the pistol lower has been asembled [sic] to a rifle configuration then converting back to the pistol constitutes ‘making a pistol from a rifle’ and thereby placing the pistol into the SBR (short barrelled [sic] rifle) class. Not so. Please see our Forum for even further clarification. It is the first post on the Forum so you don’t have to spend time trying to find it."

It is really a fun gun to shoot, especially with the 40 round mag and silencer in place. I haven't had any issues with it. I bought a dedicated lower just for it as I didn't want to change back and forth. I wanted the pistol and carbine ready at the same time.

pistol -> rifle -> pistol is ok.

    rifle -> pistol is not.

It's all about where you start.

Another pic or two. Co-witness MBUIS with the red dot.

With five of these 40 round rotary mags and about 20 various sized regular mags you could wage a small war with this and the pistol. Easily fits in a tennis racket or violin case.

Me likie. Me want in 10mm.

I have 2 - 1911 Mechtechs though - a 10mm & a 460 Rowland. And they are every bit of the fun you can imagine. You are welcome to try either/both anytime you are near Houston.

Edit to finish up my PCC choices:

9mm - went Kel Tec Sub 2000. It was selected because stowage and speed of deployment are unmatched. It's the truck or saddlebag long gun and it plays well with the M&P doing truck/holster duty.

357/38 - went Marlin 1894. It plays well with either of my revolvers.

460 Rowland - I'm just one of them guys that wants to get some hog killing action. It plays well with the 5" 1911 doublestack 460 Rowland.

    10mm - I simply love shooting 10mm and wanted to play with a 16"barrel.
