    LOL. Like K-mart 2.0?

Maybe. Or like GM 2.0. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

If they can shed a bunch of retirement and benefit debt like GM did, then perhaps there's hope if they wake up and figure out how things are sold these days. (put the old catalog online in a manner where you can find stuff). If not, it will just be a train wreck in slow motion.

I have an old rod and reel I bought at Sears back in the 50s. I have many, many warm memories of "going to Sears" and of breathlessly opening the new big catalog when it came in the maiI and spending the next 6 months looking at it. I remember the thrill on mom's face when we got our new Kenmore washer that spun-dried the clothes.... no more cranking the wringer. Later, we got our first dryer. No more clotheslines! She was in paradise. Memories.

Back in the days when you could buy a shotgun, no questions asked. Society went to hell after Kennedy, then you just couldn't mail order firearms to your home. Then in 1986 they essentially killed the 2A.

Speaking of Kmart 2.0... They've been an online retailer since they declared bankruptcy about 15 years ago. Here's the funny part; Kmart bought Sears in 2004 right after they restructured, and renamed the "Kmart Holding Corporation" to the "Sears Holding Corporation".

    I guess we're also heading towards a Kmart 3.0...

I think a company like Alibaba could buy Sears, convert it's larger retail stores into distribution centers, and give Amazon some trouble.

    What killed Sears? ...

Sears died from a series of hits:

    1. Best Buy ate away their appliance business

    2. Lowe’s/HD hurt their tool business

    3. The Pep Boys/Autozone/Firestone hurt their automotive business

    4. The Internet shopping put the last nail in their coffin.

There are other issues for me...I don’t do Malls, which is where they insist on locating.

Never thought much of their clothing lines.

Sorry to see them go. I have lots of Craftsman hand tools from back in the day, and can still buy them at Lowe’s...

I swore by Diehard batteries...not so much anymore.

I can't seem to find the source that mentioned it, but in it, the article stated Sears over the years would put in less then $1 per $X (I forgot the exact number) back into the stores when their competitors were putting back anywhere from $5 to $15 back into keeping their stores up to date and current.
