Very cool. That's something I've always wanted to try, but never put any effort towards. I always wanted to see if I could anodize aluminum too.

I've been studying that too. It's a fairly straight forward process. It requires sulfuric acid but there's other methods.

Project list. A variable power supply. Industrial anodizing dye. Lead anodes. Sulfuric acid. Plastic tub and two stainless steel pots.

Maybe $150 for it all. $200 if you splurge.

Today's project. Using some black Rust-oleum brand FlexiDip (Another brand of Plasti Dip.)...

I'm coloring the two shrouds on the sides of the gas tank. I've tried some orange other places but the two silver shrouds are a major color. With them black, the dominant paint scheme will be red and black verses red and silver. Just seeing what it'll look like.

    Part #4.

Upgraded from my current mesh jacket to something real. My $39 'Shift' brand mesh jacket was a pawnshop special. Which is a basic riding jacket with basic arm and shoulder protection. No liner of any sort. Works awesome in mid summer while wearing a wife beater under it. That's as good as it gets with my pawnshop clearance jacket.

End of year close outs. I'm not paying full price for a hybrid mesh Alpinestars jacket.

You'll probably want more than that for cold weather, something leather and non-perforated.
    And pants as well.

    Gear up for going down.

    No OOC, lol.

I use an Alpinestars jacket, had it for 5 years now. The liner is good to about 45°. Anything colder than that, do what Cam said.
I couldn't keep my hands warm with temps below ~45, unless I went to bulky winter gloves which were not conducive to spirited riding.
Of course, cornering on cold streets can get exciting anyway.

They sell heated grips and heated gloves. Flip a switch and it's Cadillac time.

I have a leather jacket buts it's cruiser style. Made by 'First Classics'. No protection pads. That's what I'm using right now. I agree, leather is the way to go in winter. It's just that an entry level leather jacket runs at least $300. Real deals run $600-$1200.

The new jacket comes with a removable insulated liner. For the colder cold, Ill buy an Army Surplus field jacket liner to double it up. If it comes to that.

    Bought a 'Rock Light'.

The little dohicky is 74mm long. Something like an inch and half wide. Cree brand LEDs. Contains three of them for a total of 500 lumens. Got it in red. It's going to be for safety. There's an evap canister can between the swing arm. On the bottom of that, it has a rubber mounted rock guard. I'll it to that.

The canister is slanted to where the flat part of the rock guard slightly points towards the rear tire.

Wired directly into the tail light. When the brake comes on. From the swing arm pivot back gets red underglow. At 500 lumens, it'll light it up. That's a police flashlight.

These things were designed to go in wheel wells of 4x4's. It's suppose to be decently impact resistant and waterproof.

Last night, right before going to sleep. I checked Amazon for another ASV brand brake lever.(I already have an ASV lever for the clutch.)

Average price for one of these things is $80 bucks. Pricey item because it's real.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s?k=BRF320

Well, what happened on the previous lever happened again. This time instead of the listing saying only one left. It said 3.

Get this....The price last night on a gold anodized full length lever was $35 bucks. This morning it's back to $86.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004...1542646289&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65

Now before you say it was because they only had three available. That they gutted the price to get rid of them. In the above listing that says $86, it also says 2 left in stock.

Looking up who's the vender. It says Amazon themselves. I guess it's my time in life to get high dollar levers for less then they can make it for.
