A friend buys scopes/red dot sights, etc that cost more than the firearm he puts them on. In some cases quite a bit more.

Yes, he can afford to, but I think there are many good quality optics on the market that cost far, far less and do a good, serviceable job.

I have to wonder how many of these optics are way over priced, but those with deep pockets 'think' they're getting a bigger bang for the buck, when they're really not?

Sure, some of the features of some over priced optics(my opinion) are pretty exotic, but necessary...I don't think so.

Yeah, a Rolls is quite nice, but if you're simply going from A to B, a Camry will do the job very well too. No, no one will gasp with envy, but it gets the job done and quite nicely........

I’ve often wondered the same thing. But then I second guess myself at times thinking that I may be missing something by not upgrading my optics.

Optics can usually be used on more than one gun. Once you use better glass it's often hard to settle for less. Now I can't justify paying 3K for an optic, but I do often try to get the best for the money I spend.

    E.R.,

Yes, but a Vortex or Burris will do a great job.

Trigicon, Aimpoint, Schmidt and Bender, Nightforce and those are only some of lower priced of the high price optics which are in my opinion way over priced and there others even higher priced.

Do you get what you pay for?

Not, if you're over paying you don't.....

Mod wannabe speaks...optics too can be part of a good deal gun thread.

    How's that?

They generally fit on good deal guns.

Don't like what you're reading on a thread, move on......

I think he meant that this thread is meant for posting deals and small side chat that doesn't completely derail the thread.

For those of you looking for a cheap truck gun, here is a used M&P40 for $249.99 shipped

    https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/183662

The rest of the used gun collection on that site has some good deals. I have bought from them before and had no issues

Most my optics are Vortex, but then they have different levels of cost too. It all comes down to what you want out of a scope. I will shop around and at times end up paying more then I intended to, at a good deal of course.

    MTA,

I understood what he had to say and I disagree......

A short aside that is an 'integral part' of what's being discussed doesn't derail a thread, but some 'busybodies' feel it necessary to correct what they disapprove of with a little moue on their mugs.

Now, back to good deals on guns.

Anyone interested in my Ruger LC9 with a spare magazine and a Houge Handall gripped installed.

Oh, roughly 200/250 rounds through it.

    Looks brand new.

    $200.00

    Why am I selling it?

    Too snappy for me.
