I'm of the opinion that every time the government makes an asinine regulation people will creativity circumvent them, and then fart in their general direction.

And turn the public against you and creatively get more stuff banned than the original law regulated.

Nice going with those bump stocks. Now people in Florida can't even legally own Geissele triggers or buy rifles under the age of 21. Still waiting to see what awesome new rules Trump's ATF will announce in the near future.

Instead of looking for dubious loop holes why not work to overturn or amend the crappy law in the first place. Heller and McDonald and the SCOTUS stun gun case show a path forward. But only if the gun owner isn't a flagrant law breaker.

I'm of the opinion that the more and more folks use pistols with braces, the more folks will get used to seeing them, and the needle will move even further towards taking SBRs off Title II. In the meantime, I'm not paying that $200 and I can remove the braces in a heartbeat. I have no firearms with braces that I bet my life on.

I'm of the opinion that kowtowing to negative public opinion only validates them and censors yourself.

I'm of the opinion that if it's as easy as you say, the people of Florida will have that fixed in no time.

I'm of the opinion that laws are literal as written, that anything not specifically stated in law to be illegal is legal, and doing something that may violate the subjective "spirit" of the law yet doesn't violate the letter of it is not flagrantly breaking said law.

My preference was for the Ruger PC 9mm carbine. I used the included conversion parts for Glock magazines.

Yep. The only thing I'd change on it would be for it to have a handgrip rather than the monte carlo type stock. It's damn fine the way it is, but I'm just saying . . .

Whatever. Just look at the results. The massive surge in legally owned silencers got the Hearing Protection Act sponsored by multiple congress members. It was scheduled to be debated and it was the first time in over 80 years something might be removed from the NFA/GCA. If the HPA had passed short rifles & shotguns may have been next to be deregulated.

Then thanks to those idiotic bump stocks used in the Las Vegas massacre the whole HPA is shitcanned. Floridians have more rights taken away. We've yet to see what new regulations the boys in DC have in store for us.

All the good work in progress was undone by those stupid stocks, a half assed loop hole for simulating real MGs. Unlike the huge numbers of legally owned silencers those bump stocks had 0 chance of getting MGs deregulated. Registered silencers & SBRs can be shown to be in common usage under the Heller ruling because ATF publishes the quantities of forms for each category they processed each year. How many bump stocks or pistol braces are out there? No one knows.

Go ahead and boast and posture and scream 'Will not comply' and 'From muh cold dead hands'. The fact is we gained nothing, lost more rights and lost a great opportunity to roll back portions of the NFA.

If you want a short rifle to put up against your shoulder, do it the right way.

Well the macaroni came in. Picked up a "used" G17 from GT's, too. Won't be until after Thanksgiving that I have time to try it out :(

Just catching up on some threads, been a busy few weeks....

I think its important to point out here the extreme unlikelihood that bumpstocks were actually used in Vegas (about as close to 100% certainty as possible without having actual video of the shooter(s) firing), given the little which is actually known from an event which occured in one of the most highly-surveilled places on the planet...hahaha-bullshit-hahaha....

Bumpstocks (and to be clear, I agree that they are ridiculous and dont own any, but would never begrudge anyone for wanting/owning one), were just a sacrificial lamb after the fact and at the suggestion of the ultra-weak NRA leadership Fudds...In fact, the NRA response to that (which was nearly the equivalent of bending over and spreading their cheeks) was almost enough to make me cancel my lifetime membership on the spot. Any bumpstock ban can be laid directly at the feet of current NRA (non)leadership.

Also, assuming that event wasn't cover for the assasination of some high-profile attendee, the other possibility is that it was expressly intended to kill off the HPA (which went from very high likelihood to not-a-friggin-chance almost overnight).

What Gen is that one? Been thinking one of those would be a great compliment to an 80% build...
